Star Wars is the gift that keeps on giving. Fans in general are seeing stars as 2022 becomes the biggest year for Star Wars series. With new shows pooping up in the release schedule, there isn’t much to say. Obi-Wan Kenobi is set to premiere this May 25th. Meanwhile, Andor is scheduled to premiere in the fall of 2022. As these shows premiere relatively soon, the hype is more for Season 3 of the Mandalorian.
The third season is key to knowing the answers to the ending of Boba Fett – What’s the next phase in the life of Din and Grogu? What troubles are set to appear in their story? All these questions form the crux of this intriguing storyline by Jon Favreau and his team. The production of Season 3 of the Mandalorian is nearing its end, which means that there will be a lot of hard work in post for a long time. Dave Filoni, who will be in charge of Ahsoka next month, won’t be able to take a break.
With a release date set for late 2022, there’s a lot of work to be done to get Season 3 done in time. When The Book of Boba Fett came to a close, Din Djarin and Grogu were reunited before the two went on their next journey. This meant showrunner Jon Favreau had a blank slate to work with. Boba Fett was a kind of bridge between The Mandalorian Seasons 2 and 3. He laid the groundwork for how the two main characters in the MandoVerse would change over time.
At least for the time being, Grogu has not been going to Luke Skywalker’s Jedi Academy. Grogu has only just begun to learn about the Force. The little green guy also has a lot to do as a Mandalorian foundling, which he’s willing to do now that his choice to wear Mando’s chain mail has led him to his father figure. Rumors say that Grogu will get a lot of new armor in Season 3. This will make him more powerful on the battlefield.
As for Mando, he’ll have to learn how to be a leader as he fights. The Darksaber is now in the hands of the former lone wolf. Boba Fett has made it clear that he’s having a hard time with it. Over the course of Season 3, that will most likely change. Many Mandalorians who want to rebuild their homeworld will fall in love with him because of his skills and heart of gold. Force knows he’ll need them, as a new batch of leaks point to powerful enemies on the way.
Three pictures of The Mandalorian Season 3 have been leaked on 4chan and Reddit. They were taken on the set of the third season. There are pictures of a new trooper helmet in the tweet below.

Making Star Wars has confirmed that the leaked photos are real and given more information about the villains in Season 3. The source said that recently, Din Djarin and the new red troopers had a fight. Also in the fight are the Praetorian Guards, who were seen in The Last Jedi. They are on the Imperial set that was supposed to be part of a ship. The new soldiers are red stormtroopers, but their helmets look a lot like Mandalorian helmets. The leakers also say that this sequence is linked to the cloning storyline, which may be linked to Snoke, the Supreme Leader.
The third season could well take a new route. Din has done a good job with the regular stormtroopers, bounty hunters, and even Moff Gideon. If Snoke is in the fight, it might be a difficult course for Din. It’s the first thing that needs to be done. From the picture, it’s clear that the red helmet is based on those worn by Mandalorians, and they look a lot like Imperial Super Commandos. They were Mandalorian soldiers who were loyal to the Empire and worked for Gar Saxon before he was killed, and Mandalore was destroyed in the Night of a Thousand Tears.
It’s likely that the red stormtroopers in the leak are actually a new version of these Super Commandos. There are a lot of signs that Season 3 will bring Din back to Mandalore, which means that he will have to fight against the Imperial Remnants. There are still Mandalorians who believe in the Empire, even though the government has completely destroyed their world.
Force-users Kylo Ren and Rey made them look easy in The Last Jedi, but those two were really good at it. It’s not like Din can do anything like that, and the Darksaber will only get him so far. His skills with the blade should be better by the time this battle comes. There’s only so much he can do against eight warriors of the Praetorian’s level.
Season 3 takes place 25 years before Episode VIII, which is why the red troopers didn’t do so very well. Ren deceived and killed his master in that episode. The guards are there because of Snoke. A failed Snoke clone was shown in Chapter 12 from Season 2. This set the stage for him to show up in the next wave of episodes.
Snoke’s role in the story will be interesting to find out. Unfortunately, the sudden death and revelation that he was just a puppet for Palpatine takes away from the Supreme Leader’s power. The character, on the other hand, seems to think he’s the real deal. Moff Gideon may have been gathering Grogu’s DNA to help make Snoke, but that task may have already been done in Marvel Comics thanks to Luke Skywalker’s severed hand.
Before the first season of The Mandalorian even aired, executive producer Jon Favreau said that The Mandalorian would look into the history of the First Order. When Snoke and the Praetorian Guards are in the picture, everything will be different. As time goes on, many of the galaxy’s most important people will know that Gideon works for Snoke. It’s not clear how Snoke gets away with everything until The Force Awakens, but his reign of terror seems to be beginning in Mandalore.
