Marvel Cinematic Universe first introduced the Ten Rings organization in 2008’s Iron Man. The organization was again brought into light in Marvel’s latest Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Led by actor Simu Liu, the film made a detailed exploration into the working and foundation of the Ten Rings organization, which was harboured by MCU’s Mandarin, known in the film as Wenwu, played by Tony Leung.

By incorporating the story of the Ten Rings with Shang-Chi into the MCU, Marvel essentially made fans familiar with the new organization’s entire narrative. Starting with its murderous past and continuing down to its shady ways of working around things, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings made sure to include all the important aspects of the group. With this, not only did it receive a lot of highlights in the MCU, but Marvel fans now have a better understanding of what to expect from this part of the MCU.

The film ends with Wenwu’s sacrifice. And while this act in the final battle might be indicating the termination of the Ten Rings organization, the film’s post-credits scene has fans doubting the idea. In Shang-Chi’s post-credits scene, we see the group still functioning after Wenwu’s death, and this time with a different character in the forefront. It is none other than Shawn’s sister, Xialing, played by Meng’er Zhang.

This tiny snippet at the end of Shang-Chi only proves that the Ten Rings will make a reappearance in the MCU at some point. To support the theory, there is a new report that positively elaborates on the idea.

Shang-Chi Spin-off Featuring The Ten Rings Is Believed To Be Under The Works

Daniel Richtman, who is a reliable source, recently shared on his Patreon that Marvel Studios is currently working on a Shang-Chi spin-off. And the said spin-off is rumoured to be featuring the Ten Rings organization from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Richtman also went as far as disclosing that Meng’er Zhang’s Xialing would play the leading role in the said spin-off. If approved for development, the series would officially stream on Marvel’s partner platform, Disney+.

The Ten Rings Make Their Return Potentially On Disney+

There is still little information to go with in order for fans to start expecting a new show, but still it is likely for Marvel Studios to take up the story. The narrative of the Ten Rings is still untapped, and there is enough room for exploration, so a spin-off might be a potential idea for the franchise.

The way Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings ended, it was clearly setting up the storyline for a future spin-off series. More so because we saw the Ten Rings come back into action with a new leader in command in the form of Xialing.

Although, it is yet to be determined if Shaun’s sister will follow in Wenwu’s footsteps and lead the Ten Rings with more mysterious and villainous goals for the organization. Or if she will take on a different approach and switch to a cleaner nobler path. This choice itself gives the franchise a lot of story opportunities for the upcoming spin-off.

It is also ironic that in her recent interview with The Direct, Meng’er Zhang humorously compared her MCU character of Xialing to her father saying she is “like her father in many ways.” This subtle yet revealing comparison means that the character could be seen leading the Ten Rings organization into dark ways, just like Wenwu.

If a Shang-Chi spin-off is fleshed out to reality, there is a possibility that we will see more of the film’s characters like Simu Liu’s Shaun and Awkwafina’s Katy make a comeback for their roles. Also, since the spin-off would essentially revolve around the story of the Ten Rings, it is likely that Tony Leung could make an appearance as Wenwu for some interesting flashback scenes.

Fans still have the opportunity to explore the world of the Ten Rings as Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is still successfully running in theaters worldwide.
