One of the most valuable franchises within the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been based on The God of Thunder Thor, who is played by Chris Hemsworth. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been established on its capacity to produce blockbuster after blockbuster. Thor: Love and Thunder (2022), the fourth movie in the saga, was released in July of this year.

The movie saw Chris Hemsworth (Thor) return, along with a tonne of other actors we’ve seen in past outings, like as Jeff Goldblum (Grandmaster), Natalie Portman (Jane Foster/Mighty Thor), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Jaimie Alexander (Lady Sif), and Taika Waititi (Korg).

Many critics claimed that, in spite of all the talent and the enormous budget of allegedly $250 million, the “movie fell flat.” It received only a 65% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, ranking it the lowest-rated Marvel film ever. The movie did cross the $700 million mark at the box office and received a somewhat positive factor with a 77% approval rating.

It is evident that there have been a variety of fan reactions to the movie, including a lot of criticism.

Now several rumours state that Disney and Marvel might pull the cord on the next Thor movie because of how Thor franchise went downhill after Thor-Ragnarok. Several outlets have also claimed that director Taika Waititi is not interested in doing a Thor 4.

What Went Wrong With Thor Love & Thunder

It has always been an issue with Marvel Cinematic Universe, they established his world, developed this fantastic character, and then had no idea how to proceed with the Mighty Thor.
Now, it makes sense that occasionally a terrific film’s sequel would not live up to fans’ anticipation.

The MCU can now finally explore some fresh and intriguing antagonists thanks to Thanos’s defeat. In the film Thor: Love and Thunder, actor Christian Bale performed an outstanding job as the horrifying Gorr the God Butcher. He is the embodiment of every kid’s nightmare, with slender makeup, yellow eyes, and the power to walk through shadows. Gorr also had an intriguing backstory: despite his loyalty to the gods, he is outraged at them for failing to save his daughter and wishes to kill them because of their arrogance.

By pairing an extremely serious antagonist with Thor who doesn’t take himself seriously enough, it minimises Gorr’s gravity and ultimately cheapens their relationship.

Thor 5 Was Not Included In D23 Showcase Of Phase 5

Many believe that Marvel boss Kevin Feige is not happy with the reaction that love and thunder received even Chris Hemsworth said he might not do a Thor movie if the idea became stale. Also, the merchandise for Thor was not sold much as compared to other Marvel Super Heroes & Disney is very strict with its Merchandises sale. So clearly Disney is not interested in doing a Thor 4 at the moment and maybe that is why it is not included in their Phase 5 plan as well. Personally, I don’t mind if they don’t do a Thor 5, let the character take a break.
