A few days ago, when a redditor leaked the details of the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy holiday special, it was made clear that the Silver Surfer would be making his big MCU debut in the James Gunn-directed holiday special. According to new reports, Marvel Studios is currently developing a stand-alone Silver Surfer series for Disney Plus.

Who Is Silver Surfer?

Silver Surfer

He made his debut in 1966 alongside Galactus in Fantastic Four # 48. The Silver Surfer got his own comic book series from Marvel Comics in honor of his popularity. Norrin Radd, a native of Zenn-La. Radd offered himself as a messenger, preventing Galactus from consuming his planet. Galactus then gave him the cosmic powers, a new physicality, and a transport resembling a board.

The Silver Surfer, one of the most selfless and anguished cosmic beings in the universe, values freedom above all else but frequently gives up his freedom for the benefit of others.
The Fantastic Four helped the Surfer fight off Galactus’ attempts to reclaim his services. He also battled opponents like the extraterrestrial Badoon and the evil Mephisto who is rumored to make his debut in The Ironheart.

Rami Malek As The Silver Surfer

There was a rumor floating about in 2020 regarding a possible Rami Malek involvement in a silver surfer project. Fans were left wondering when the superhuman entity would make a comeback to the big screen, but nothing came of it.

The actor has demonstrated that he is more than capable of portraying characters who must constantly battle their deepest fears after his incredible performance in Bohemian Rhapsody. We think Rami Malek will do justice to the cosmic superhero. The Surfer decides to embark on a cosmic journey in endless slavery to a vengeful and unforgiving monster while looking for purpose in a universe that is indifferent to reality.

People can only speculate as to why Marvel chose to include the Silver Surfer in a six-episode series on Disney+ rather than in his own film. One explanation is that Marvel may not be certain of the box office performance given that the Silver Surfer’s first live-action film, which was 2007’s Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer, wasn’t exactly the most well-received movie in the superhero genre. Another option is that Marvel views Disney Plus as an opportunity to save time in the future for a full-fledged movie.
