Initially, it was rumored that Marvel was looking to cast Reed Richards first. But now, its speculated that the studio is casting Sue Storm first and the story of the “Fantastic Four” movie will revolve around her. And apparently the company has decided that it wants a Dakota Johnson look-alike for the role.

Marvel Studios Looking For A Dakota Johnson-Like Actress For Sue Storm

Talking on The Hot Mic Podcast, insider Jeff Sneider revealed that Marvel Studios was looking for a Dakota Johnson-like actress and someone in the 30-35 age bracket to play Sue Storm in the upcoming “Fantastic Four” film. He said:

“… As far as Fantastic Four goes, I mean… When we were talking about her age… Sue Storm’s age… and said they’re gonna start building around Sue Storm. And then I put out Saoirse [Ronan], and someone had come forward, and said Saoirse seems a little too young… So we’re looking at that 30-35 age range and, from what I understand, Dakota Johnson is the prototype.”

Sneider didn’t elaborate on why Marvel Studios is specifically looking at Dakota Johnson as the prototype for the role. However, the fact that Marvel has begun casting means that we will get more information soon about the frontrunners for the role.

Why Isn’t Marvel Casting The Actress For The Role?

During the podcast, Sneider revealed that Marvel Studios isn’t casting Dakota Johnson for Sue Storm for the movie because she is already starring in the “Madame Web” film. As per the insider:

“But it’s not, obviously, going to be Dakota Johnson, because she is Madame Web… which, I believe, is undergoing reshoots right now too. So, it’s not going to be Dakota Johnson.”

Furthermore, he also said that the studio wasn’t necessarily looking for a white woman to play the role. He said:

“Dakota Johnson is 32, I think, so does that mean that they’re looking at a white woman? Not necessarily. But you know, I think in an ideal world… they would like someone like Dakota Johnson.”

As such, it remains to be seen who gets cast as Sue Storm. As for Reed Richards, actors like Adam Driver and Diego Luna were rumored to be frontrunners for the role. But now, there’s radio silence on the casting for Mr. Fantastic. However, there should be official casting information released soon since the movie will go into production early in 2024 at least.
