Spider-Man: No Way Home is full of significant moments and surprises. But nothing could rile up audiences more than Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s returns.

Spider-Man: No Way Home features Tom Holland in the titular role along with Jacob Batalon, Zendaya, and Jon Favreau. Joining them then are villains from previous Spider-Man franchises like Jamie Foxx, Willem Dafoe, and Alfred Molina.

In the months leading up to the release of the movie, Garfield and Maguire’s involvement was pretty much an open secret. There were long and persistent rumors about their Peter Parker versions coming back to help Holland’s Spidey fight the multiversal villains.

However, one has to give credit to the cast and crew. Despite leaked set photos, soundtrack motifs, and more, everyone involved with the movie vehemently denied their involvement.

Obviously, this wasn’t going to stop fans from discussing Garfield and Maguire’s potential appearances online. After all, no one believed a word of the cast and crew. This was because the MCU fandom was similarly deceived before as well.

Previously, Tatiana Maslany and Hailee Steinfeld both denied being cast as She-Hulk and Kate Bishop respectively. But obviously, they were lying through their teeth, just like the No Way Home cast was.

However, this denial worked in their favor as it boosted the hype for the movie. Now that we have all seen Maguire and Garfield in the movie, new follow-up questions are being asked- Will we get to see their Spidermen again?

Thankfully, for fans, a new interview updates the pair’s future.

During an interview with Variety, Spider-Man: No Way Home writers Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna talked about their hopes for Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parkers in the future.

McKenna said that he “would love to see more of their journey.” Also, he said that a post-credits scene that would have teased Garfield and Maguire’s MCU future was indeed being considered. Here’s the quote:

“I would hope so! I would love to see more of their journey. We even talked about, ‘Oh, we could do a [post-credits] tag with this one! We could do a tag with that one!'”

Sommers chimed in jokingly by asking if they could do a TV show, with the two, saying:

“‘Can we do a TV show with the two of them traveling around in a van solving mysteries?'”

McKenna then took the joke further by saying:

“Like, ‘No, you weren’t supposed to say that. We are doing Tobey and Andrew in a van going from town to town!”

These latest comments from the No Way Home writers echo fan sentiments. Most fans do want to see more of Andrew Garfield’s and Tobey Maguire’s Spidermen down the line.

It also would have been interesting to see a post-credits scene teasing the future of their Spideys. But it looked like a further discussion regarding the scenes, and what they would imply might have pushed that back.

Overall, we don’t know if Garfield and Maguire’s return to No Way Home was a one-and-done deal. However, if it was, then the movie’s record-breaking box-office collections might have changed that.

We also need to say that even if this was the last, we saw of Garfield and Maguire’s Spideys, No Way Home was indeed a perfect send-off for their characters. After all, they had already resolved their problems with the villains of their cinematic universes.

However, it would certainly be amazing to see them come back for another solo project at least, which would truly lead to a proper goodbye, or a continuation, who knows, after all.

No Way Home teased the fates of famous characters like Kirsten Dunst’s Mary Jane Watson, so a full-blown reveal in a solo project would have been a very interesting outcome. As for Garfield, fans desperately want The Amazing Spider-Man 3 so that he can complete his trilogy.

So, if that ultimately happens, then it should delight fans. Overall, right now, anything is possible, especially after No Way Home’s earth-shattering run at the box office.
