Marvel Studios has officially begun filming its upcoming show Wonder Man, which has been in pre-production for the past few months. The series will focus on Simon Williams, a popular actor who is imbued with superpowers, including flight, superhuman strength, and the ability to control ionic energy. Not much is known about the MCU’s take on Wonder Man, but the show is expected to take the form of a Hollywood satire.
Main Characters And Cast
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will portray the lead character Simon Williams, while Hollywood veteran Ed Harris will play Williams’ agent. Demetrius Grosse will bring to life Simon’s evil brother Eric, also known as the Grim Reaper. Ben Kingsley is set to reprise his role from Iron Man 3 and Shang-Chi as Trevor Slattery. Famed German documentarian Werner Herzog is also rumored to be in the running for a part in the show.
Filming Has Begun
Wonder Man producer Destin Daniel Cretton, who also directed Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings and is set to helm Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, shared that the MCU series entered principal photography via an Instagram post. Cretton posted an image of himself holding a color rendition chart right in front of the iconic Hollywood sign.
Marvel Studios’ Wonder Man doesn’t have a release date yet, but with filming now underway, it could premiere sometime in 2024 or 2025.
