With the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, fans are overly excited about the numerous potential projects the MCU may do with Kang the Conqueror, one of the most brutal antagonists in the Marvel comics. When it came to playing the part of a time-traveling villain in Ant-Man 3, Jonathan Majors was at the top of his game.

Kang (Jonathan Majors) originally appeared in the MCU as He Who Remains in Loki, warning fans of his variations—a warning reflected in the version of him featured in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

It would make sense to see the time-traveling bad guy emerge somewhere in the ongoing telling of multiverse-related events in Phases 5 and 6, given the introduction of many Kang variants to the MCU and the danger levels assigned to them. Whether he will appear in the Fantastic Four film is the first and most pressing concern on fans’ minds. So prepare yourselves! In one of the most recent interviews, Ant-Man 3 producer and creative executive for The Studios, Stephen Broussard, addressed the issue.

Will Kang Appear In “Fantastic Four” Reboot?

Recently, Marvel’s creative executive and Quantumania producer Stephen Broussard sat down with Den of Geek for a conversation. The Ant-Man 3 producer was asked if Jonathan Majors’ Kang would appear in the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot.

Broussard avoided making any bold claims, but he did say that he “think[s] there will be no corner of the MCU” where Kang won’t play at least some part.

“I don’t want to speak too specifically about what might or might not happen in that film [‘Fantastic Four’]. They obviously have an amazing rogues gallery, and the sky’s the limit with them. But Kang as a force, Kang as a plurality, feels very exciting to us, and I think there will be no corner of the MCU that won’t be affected by Jonathan and by Kang moving forward.”

Given how connected the antagonist is to Marvel’s First Family, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Kang have at least a cameo part in the Fantastic Four’s forthcoming movie since “the sky’s the limit with [the Fantastic Four rogues].”

In fact, it’s interesting to note that Kang hasn’t been referred to by his entire comics name, Nathaniel Richards, until this point. Matter of fact, Kang, whose real name is Nathaniel Richards, is a descendant of Reed Richards. After Thanos in Phases 5 and 6, the MCU has previously revealed that he will be the next villain. Marvel has been setting him up pretty nicely, and as he is a time-traveling threat, he is likely to resurface in the universe rather frequently. When John Krasinki’s Reed mentioned having two children, it was another clue that he was present in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Broussard went on to hint that Kang would not always appear in the same form in different projects, saying it is “very exciting” to believe that “his character [plays] drastically different versions of the same person.”

“That feels very exciting to us, the idea of Jonathan playing these characters is very unique. I was just trying to think this morning about, like, is there anything comparable in movies, to this character playing radically different versions of the same person? It feels unique to explore and I’m glad we get to be the ones to do it.”

Furthermore, Broussard discussed upcoming events and how new initiatives will serve as points of connection so that they “can talk to one another in exciting ways:

“Moving forward, the connectivity and where these films can talk to each other in exciting ways starts to come together. That form follows the function of making something entertaining, aspiring to make a great series in ‘Loki’ and aspiring to make a great movie in ‘Quantumania.'”

Kang And The First Family Connection

Kang and the Fantastic Four have fought in several battles together and separately. The Conqueror famously engaged in combat with the First Family while using the name Rama-Tut; it is believed that this variant will feature more often in the next MCU movies.

Nathaniel Richards, best known in the comics as KANG, is an ancestor of Reed Richards. Both Reed Richards and his father were extremely brilliant and powerful people. Nathaniel Richards is not only a time traveler with a lot of fantastic technology for warfare and scientific scenarios, but also as intelligent as his stretchy kid. Eventually, his lineage produces an academically gifted offspring named Nathaniel, and he eventually finds himself in a complex alternate reality. After making a time travel mistake that gives him access to tools that are futuristic even in the distant future from which he hails, this future Nathaniel eventually transforms into Kang the Conqueror.

Given the rich comic history of Kang and the First Family, it would be a fantastic idea for the MCU to introduce Kang’s past and establish a connection between them in the upcoming reboot.

Fantastic Four hits theaters on Feb. 14, 2025.
