The Hood, one of Marvel Comics’ most brutal villains, will make his MCU debut in the next Marvel Studios project, Ironheart. Kevin Feige introduced him at D23, but little is known about his background or intentions. However, the Ironheart set photo does depict The Hood wearing a highly comic-accurate-looking cloak, and a recent rumour suggests that its origins may be a little less comic-accurate.

Rumors say that Robbins’ cloak, the source of many of the magical abilities he possesses in the comic books, will be linked to the demon Mephisto. The cloak previously belonged to Dormammu in the comics, who at one point used it to control Robbins. Given that Mephisto is playing the part, it is possible that Mephisto will attack Robbins in Ironheart and strike a deal for his soul as he does.

Created by Marvel , Mephisto is a fictitious character that appears in comic books. Stan Lee initially introduced the character to the Marvel Universe in The Silver Surfer #3 in December 1968. Mephisto was first introduced as a recurring foe of the Silver Surfer and Johnny Blaze. He has since endured as one of Spider-Man’s enemies, causing Harry and Norman Osborn to change into the Green Goblin and causing the superhero to lose his marriage to Mary-Jane Watson. The Cosmic Ghost Rider was born as a result of Mephisto’s frequent conflicts with Doctor Strange, Doctor Doom, and other superheroes in the Marvel Universe.

The Master of Malice’s arrival in the MCU opens up a plethora of fresh stories that can be told, including the long-delayed Ghost Rider movie and a comic-accurate origin for the Silver Surfer! Fans have long anticipated the appearance of Mephisto in every Marvel Studios project, and no doubt some of them will be pleased that they were correct!
