It appears that Zendaya’s MJ’s fate has already been revealed by the cast of Spider-Man: No Way Home. The upcoming film No Way Home is poised to alter the course of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Doctor Strange tries to help Peter Parker forget that he’s Spider-Man in the movie. Dr. Strange’s spell to erase Peter Parker’s secret identity goes awry, bringing into the MCU past Spider-Man villains like Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock and Jamie Foxx’s Electro. To save the Multiverse, Spider-Man must now stop the villains.

Will MJ survive?

Several characters’ lives are in jeopardy in the No Way Home trailers. Aunt May appears to be running in the same general vicinity where Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin detonates a bomb in one trailer. Theories abound that Aunt May will perish in the film due to this particular scene. To top it all off, the trailer features a terrifying scene in which Peter Parker’s fiancee MJ falls from a building. The fall of Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 appears to be a recurring theme in the film’s trailers. A death in the scene means that things aren’t going well for MJ’s fate.

Despite how bad things look for Zendaya, the cast might have given away the ending. The inclusion of Stone’s fall in the Amazing Spider-Man 2 trailer made it look like she’d live, according to Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon when asked about MJ and Gwen Stacy’s falls. It “almost made it appear that she had survived,” Holland said. Cast members laughed when asked if this meant Zendaya had made it out alive. Given the humor and Holland’s remark, the No Way Home cast’s conversation about MJ’s fall suggests she will survive the ordeal.

MJ’s Death Looks Bleak

Why Spider-Man’s Love Interest Issue Should Be Fixed By The MCU

This is why MJ will live: Sony already fooled us with Emma Stone’s trailer. For The Amazing Spider-Man 2, the inclusion of Gwen Stacy’s fall in the trailer represented a significant plot point in the film. Theatergoers were shocked to learn that the scene was Gwen Stacy’s death scene. It’s pointless for Sony to pull the same ruse again. Sony already did it. Rather than evoking a sense of loss, it would cheapen what should be a heartbreaking scene. It’s safe to assume that the inclusion of MJ’s fall in the trailer means she manages to survive, but yet another twist is possible.

Since Sony’s Gwen Stacy twist was a success, look for an MJ twist as well. In the NWH trailers, viewers saw MJ fall and speculated that Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man would come back to save her. They were not wrong. After Gwen Stacy’s passing in Amazing Spider-Man 2, he would be able to redeem himself. Even if Marvel uses editing tricks to hide what’s happening in the trailer, there is another potential for the scene. This includes Holland’s Peter Parker saving MJ himself. On the other hand, the death of MJ appears to be the least likely scenario.
