Mr Fantastic sets the stage for what could be the next major threat to the MCU. Before Loki, no one in the MCU had considered the possibility of alternate, yet similar, versions of a single character. In the same way that the Infinity Stones storyline served as a bridge between Phases 1, 2, and 3, the multiverse is now serving as a bridge between Phases 4 and 5.

How Long Is The Multiverse Safe For?

The MCU is slowly introducing characters that could pose a threat to the multiverse by either interfering with or controlling it, just like how Thanos wanted to weaponize the Infinity Stones. Following the appearance of He Who Remains in Loki, the first notable one was Kang, who had not been present in Multiverse of Madness.

As a result of the Darkhold’s influence, Scarlet Witch, now a villain, became the most urgent threat to the multiverse, willing to inhabit other people’s bodies and cause incursions. Earth-838 Doctor Strange caused an incursion in Doctor Strange 2 while trying to harness the Darkhold’s powers, showing how vulnerable the multiverse is to threats.

At least until Kang’s schemes start to come to fruition, the multiverse appears safe with Scarlet Witch dead and every Darkhold in the multiverse destroyed. Reed Richards, a cameo appearance in Doctor Strange: The Multiverse of Madness, hinted that Franklin Richards, Reed Richards and Sue Storm’s son, might be present on Earth-838 as well.

Is Mr Fantastic A Villain?

It’s possible that this Franklin is a mutant like the one depicted in the comics, as demonstrated by Professor X’s appearance in Doctor Strange 2. In the event that Earth-838 Franklin is as powerful as his comic book counterpart, the multiverse could be in danger because an all-powerful child who can create and destroy universes at will is about to find out that his father was killed by a witch from another reality.

Franklin Richards aka Mr Fantastic isn’t a villain, but as shown by Wanda’s downfall, ultimate power can corrupt utterly, especially in the face of grief..” A lot of time in Doctor Strange 2 was devoted to Earth-838 and its differences from the MCU, so it’s not out of the question that this universe will be revisited in future films.

Killing the world’s most important heroes, as Scarlet Witch did, has caused a great deal of damage and could have some repercussions. They will have to deal with Reed’s death, as well as how others in the Fantastic Four family (including Franklin Richards) will handle it. Franklin Richards may not have reached the maturity level of Sue Storm to understand the dangers of seeking vengeance or closure through the multiverse.
