The Book of Boba Fett is going to premiere in about a month. And promotion for it has finally begun in full force. Newly released images for the upcoming Star Wars show give fans a sneak peek of the partnership between Boba and Fennec Shand.
The Book of Boba Fett has been termed as The Mandalorian 2.5. It is a direct spinoff of the Pedro Pascal-led show and will flesh out the world we saw in The Mandalorian. The show is led by Temuera Morrison, who stars as Boba Fett.
Joining him in an equally important role is Ming-Na Wen as Fennec Shand. They both portrayed the live-action version of their characters in The Mandalorian, and now they will star in The Book of Boba Fett and presumably other Star Wars projects.
The Multiple Failed Attempts At Boba Fett
Over the years, multiple attempts have been made to develop a standalone canon Star Wars movie that’s centred around Boba Fett. Way back in February 2013, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced a Boba Fett spinoff. The film was supposed to take place between A New Hope, and The Empire Strikes Back. It was going to focus on Fett and the other Bounty hunters from the second movie in the franchise.
However, it never went into development. Thankfully, the idea of making a Boba Fett project never fully died. There were talks throughout the years about a Boba Fett standalone. In 2017, Lucasfilm did consider making a Boba Fett movie again. However, that project was stalled (as were others) after Solo: A Star Wars Story bombed at the box office. Now, a Boba Fett project has finally been done after the success of The Mandalorian on Disney+. New images from the show reveal a team-up between Boba and Fennec.
New Images Of The Book Of Boba Fett Released
In one image, Fennec can be seen looking into the distance with a pulse rifle.
Another image shows a mercenary leaning over Boba Fett’s shoulders, and the words ‘Most Wanted’ are displayed in the left-hand bottom corner.
Boba is talking with another woman in a third image, and Fennec is out of focus there. Regarding the plot, we don’t know much about The Book of Boba Fett right now. The show’s synopsis alludes to Boba and Fennec trying to make a name for themselves in the underworld of the galaxy. Their attempts to take over Jabba the Hutt’s territory will surely lead to resistance and epic fights.
The Fennec Shand And Boba Fett Team-Up
Fennec Shand was introduced before Boba Fett in The Mandalorian. She appeared in “Chapter 5: The Gunslinger.” Then in “Chapter 14: The Tragedy,” it was revealed that Boba saved Fennec from Toro Calican, another bounty hunter. Parts of her body were replaced with cybernetics. And now Fennec serves as Fett’s new partner. We don’t know how much of this series will be dedicated to exploring the relationship between Boba and Fennec.
But their chemistry in The Mandalorian and Fennec being a fan-favourite character should mean that their relationship will get time dedicated towards it. Overall, the show is highly anticipated, and it should be received well by fans if everything goes right. Fans can see the pair team up in The Book of Boba Fett on December 29, 2021.
