Every single Marvel fan cannot help but love Tony Stark’s Iron man. Whether it’s from the comics or in the MCU, Iron Man is one of the most iconic superheroes to ever exist. This year is the character’s 60th anniversary and Marvel is going all in, giving him the birthday he deserves. Marvel will be releasing a relaunch of Invincible Iron Man this December. So let’s dissect all the information we have on it.

Invincible Iron Man 

Writer Gerry Duggan and artist Juan Frigeri are bringing back Invincible Iron Man and bringing him into a new era. Invincible Iron Man will supposedly place Tony Stark at rock bottom and make him fight his way out. He will have to deal with a crushing defeat from a well-known villain. Here’s its synopsis.

“It all ends here? Tony Stark, the genius-billionaire-playboy-philanthropist, has lost it all: his wealth…his fame…his friends. But Stark doesn’t realize he still has so much more to lose, especially when a mystery villain puts out a hit on him! Every assassin around the Marvel Universe has come out of the shadows for Tony — and he has no idea who hired them! Will this cavalcade of killers close the book on Iron Man? It’s the beginning of the end, as the Golden Avenger must fight for his life and find out what it really means to hit rock bottom.”

The current storyline of Iron Man that’s being created by Christopher Cantwell has seen Iron Man do it all. From facing Korvac to going into rehab, he has had to face some very tough challenges. However, this next fight might just be the toughest of his life, and he’s destined to lose. It only seems fitting that such an epic character gets a reboot of such epic proportions.

Remembering his origins

Iron man was created with the combined efforts of four legendary artists-  editor and story-plotter Stan Lee, scripter Larry Lieber, story-artist Don Heck, and cover-artist and character-designer Jack Kirby. Stan lee wanted to create a man who supposedly had everything, wealth, charm, the ladies but was still broken on the inside. He wanted to create a man easy to hate, the epitome of war and capitalism, and still try to make audiences love and cheer for him. It would be quite an understatement to say that he succeeded.

Iron Man first appeared in 1963 in Tales of Suspense no. 39. It followed Tony Stark as he flaunted his newest creations which were micro-transistors capable of powering up things such as magnets; turning them into powerful weapons. The villain was the evil Red tyrant Wong-Chu who was determined to bring Vietnam under his control. The rest as we know it involves Tony Stark creating the life saving suit and also saving the day.

A few highlights from his successful career as a superhero

Wolverine’s Adamantium and Black Panther’s Vibranium are known to be two of the most powerful and enduring substances in the planet. They can cut through anything and protect one from everything. But Iron Man manages to do the impossible. When Cardiac took Stark scientists and held them captive, Iron Man managed to break through the Adamantium and Vibranium sphere and help them breathe. He did so by propelling himself like a missile. Although this severely injured his arm, the feat is still a great show of strength and intellect.

She-Hulk has made several appearances with the Avengers. In one of them she was manipulated and mind-controlled by none other than Scarlet Witch and turned into a mindless, angry weapon. She was so powerful that she tore Vision into half. Crazy right? And then there was Iron Man. He took her out with a single punch.

He created a suit known as the Phoenix-Buster which took on the entity of the Phoenix force and fractured it, causing it to splinter. His Thor-Buster armor has faced off against Thor. Once, he one-shot Captain Marvel, someone who is considered to be the most powerful Avenger. He has of course taken on the Hulk with his Hulk-Buster armor. He has even defeated Magneto by creating a suit without any metal and using Jupiter’s magnetic field to power it. This man is the perfect combination of strength and intelligence. After all even without his suit he is still a Genius, Billionaire, Playboy, Philanthropist. He is IRON MAN.
