Season 2 of The Mandalorian lived up to every hype about it. But more than that, it gave fans more to look forward to. It was in the form of not just its third season, but also potential spin-offs.
After Mando’s amazing adventure with Tusken Raiders, Cobb Vanth, and a krayt dragon, chapter 9 of The Mandalorian closed out with Boba Fett looking at the twin suns and sands of Tatooine.
What happened next delighted Star Wars fans. As season 2 went on, Din Djarin and Baby Yoda made alliances with Ahsoka Tano and Bo-Katan Kryze. They then defeated Moff Gideon and were rescued by Luke Skywalker.
However, it was Boba Fett’s return that turned the tides of the season. Mando and Fett met on Tython when the latter arrived in his Slave I ship (that might get renamed) to get his lost armor back in “Chapter 14- The Tragedy.”
The two of them forged an honorable pact to save Baby Yoda, and Fett restored his father’s armor to how it was before. The season 2 finale of The Mandalorian ended with a post announcing The Book of Boba Fett.
It is coming in December, and a poster of Fett was recently released that gave fans a first look at the kind of show they can expect to see. In the poster, we see Boba as a crime lord in his new get-up on a throne.
Right now, people have been quiet about the plot and other details, but we will soon get to know more about it as marketing for the show amps up. However, right now, we are getting some information regarding the merchandising effort that’s underway.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Lucasfilm as well as the release of The Book of Boba Fett, the official Star Wars site has geared up for a merchandising effort. Here, products will be released related to the past, present, and future Star Wars media.
Very much like previous year’s “Mando Monday” effort, the “Bring Home the Bounty” will indeed have a weekly announcement of Star Wars products. This will have products based on all projects throughout the history of the franchise.
And yes, this will include stuff from The Book of Boba Fett. Among the promo pics on the site’s page is a new art piece of Boba Fett. He can be seen wearing his black undergarment and reacquired armor.
Darth Vader’s menacing pose can be seen on the packaging of multiple products. This can be most notably seen in the merchandise that’s exclusive to Disney stores and parks.
Chewbacca is also on a piece of art that had been made for the marketing campaign of The Last Jedi. However, Wrecker is a very simple character profile pic that’s used on the posters for The Bad Batch.
Grogu and Mando’s designs have also been on products that have been ranging from posters to mugs and even puzzles. But the Boba Fett pic is indeed new.
Very much like the poster that was released a couple of weeks back, changes have been made to Fett’s armor in the pic. Eagle-eyed viewers will know that these changes weren’t there in the last appearance of the character from The Mandalorian.
Most notably, Fett can be seen with a new helmet that has a slash down one side, and it has taken a chunk out of the new paint job. Along with this, the scarf on his neck looks very less pronounced than when he wore it in The Mandalorian.
The new art doesn’t give us a good look at Fett’s armor below his torso, so we don’t know what design changes have been made there. But it does seem like the previous bounty hunter has discarded the robe he wore in The Mandalorian.
This will leave a lot of his boots and leg armor exposed now. So with that being the case, it’s possible that we won’t be able to see the Boba Kilt any longer. However, we are sure that the action scenes will be great.
Between the similarities to the latest poster and the background being of Tatooine (with a little hint of Jabba’s Palace in the corner), it stands to reason that this art is indeed exclusively for the upcoming The Book of Boba Fett show.
Also, we are sure that there will be many more like it.
The series premiere is just a couple of months away, and so the marketing campaign should begin any day now. We are expecting more news and trailers to be revealed at Disney+ Day on November 12.
Maybe we will get to see a full trailer on that day. After all, this is the big day that Lucasfilm will get to show off their goodies before the show premieres this December.
However, it’s possible that something will be released a couple of weeks before the event. After all, Disney+ Day won’t be for just Boba Fett stuff. There are other shows like Andor and the highly anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi that will get promoted too.
As a result, it’s possible that the Boba Fett trailer might get buried under all of that. However, apart from that, fans should expect to see an Entertainment Weekly cover story with new info and images for the show in the coming weeks.
After all, their feature for season 2 of The Mandalorian dropped about 2 months ahead of its debut. So the release of the Boba Fett story should be really soon.
Do note that once marketing begins in full swing, we will get to see Boba Fett pretty much everywhere. Lucasfilm and Disney will pull out all stops to promote their show.
However, here’s a little advice- along with the marketing, keep an eye on the “Bring Home the Bounty” effort. You might get to see new images there.
