“Thor: Ragnarok” is one of the best received Marvel movies. In the film, we saw Thor fighting various beings, including Bruce Banner/ Hulk on Sakaar. In the film we are shown a main Grandmaster building or tower that’s lined with the busts of various Champions. The Hulk’s face is at the very top and then there are 5 other faces embedded on it below. If you take a closer look at the bottom face, you will find that it’s the face of Man-Thing from “Werewolf by Night.” But how did he end up on Sakaar?

It’s interesting to see this little bit of detail included in “Thor: Ragnarok” that was released in 2017, whereas Man-Thing (Carey Jones) was officially introduced in “Werewolf by Night,” a Disney+ MCU Special Presentation in 2022. As such, it begs the question- was his inclusion here a hint for his upcoming appearance? We don’t think so.

In Marvel Comics, Man-Thing is a powerful but underrated character. As such, the makers of the 2017 Thor movie probably thought that it will be a nice little reference to another Marvel comics character. However, now that the character of Man-Thing has been introduced in the MCU, it’s making us ask, how did Man-Thing canonically end up on Sakaar? And will future MCU projects ever address this?

In Marvel Comics, the swamp where Man-Thing resides in is a ‘Nexus of all realities.’ This means that it serves as a portal to other dimensions. As such, he could have used it to travel to Sakaar and participate in the fights there. Now, as for whether an actual reason will be given in the MCU for Man-Thing’s presence in Sakaar, that remains to be seen.

Where Will We See Him Next In The MCU?

As of now, none of the characters appearing in “Werewolf by Night” have been confirmed to appear in any other project. There are rumors that Elsa Bloodstone (Laura Donnelly) will appear in “Blade,” but that’s it. It remains to be seen where Man-Thing specifically shows up next. Many fans want him to get his own Special Presentation like “Werewolf by Night.”

But will that happen? What do you think? Let us know.

Stay tuned for more updates.
