Obi-Wan Kenobi To Star In Star Wars Andor Show

A tonne of Star Wars Disney+ shows was announced on Disney Investors Day last December. Out of the lot, Obi-Wan Kenobi has generated a lot of buzz online. After all, it was announced that Ewan McGregor will be reprising his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the titular show and fans who have been yearning to see him for decades went berserk.

If you are one of the fans looking forward to seeing McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi again, then know that you will have more reason to celebrate now. There’s an exclusive report saying that Mr McGregor will be starring in the Star Wars Andor show in a recurring capacity as well.

What Is The Star Wars Andor Show About?

There’s not much that’s known about the Andor show. However, it’s being speculated that it will be a prequel of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. In Rogue One we saw that the titular character died alongside all the newfound allies. They sacrificed their lives fully to get plans for making the infamous Death Star.

Cassian himself made a splash as someone fighting against the powerful Galactic Empire right when he was really young. In the movie, it was established that the Rebellion, by and large, were seen as the good guys. But people in the rebellion were pretty much prepared to do anything for reaching the bigger goal. This included Cassian as well

Now, this idea will be explored further in the Andor show. The official synopsis says that the show will be a thriller full of espionage and missions to bring back hope in a galaxy that’s in the shackles of the empire. The synopsis blurb reads:

“exploring tales filled with espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire.”

Ewan McGregor Joins The Cast Of Andor

Even Mcgregor

According to a report by Illuminerdi, it’s now being touted that Obi-Wan Kenobi himself, Ewan McGregor will be appearing in the Andor project in a full-fledged recurring role. Sadly there’s nothing more in the report about the further plot or character details.

Andor has already begun production and set pictures from the show have been leaked online as well. It’s expected that McGregor will first film Obi-Wan Kenobi before moving on to Andor. However, since neither of the shows has a release date so it’s difficult to determine the shooting schedule for now.

Star Wars Andor

But, it’s also possible that McGregor will film his scenes on Andor first since it will take less time before jumping fully into his show. As for what this means in terms of the narrative- it’s possible that Kenobi was in touch with the famous Rebellion even during his time of exile on Tatooine.

Depending on when Andor is set, it’s possible that Obi-Wan will meet Cassian. If this comes true then we will know more about what happened in Obi-Wan’s life between the infamous prequel movies and A New Hope. But for now, it’s all speculation and it’s advised that you treat it as such till any official news comes out.
