Disney+ completed its first series of 2022 with The Book of Boba Fett. Lucasfilm is now moving the Star Wars franchise back in time with Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi. The show will premiere on the streaming service in 2022.

Ewan McGregor will resume his role as Kenobi in the one-off series. This marks the first time he has done so since 2005’s Revenge Of The Sith.

The show has yet to start its promotional event since its release would in 3 months. The high level of anticipation around Ewan McGregor’s long-awaited return to his role as the legendary Jedi master is insane.

Hayden Christensen, who starred as Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader in the Prequel Trilogy, will reprise his role as the two in the show.

A connection between the Prequel Trilogy and the original films will be established by this show. The show will also include the Eternals actor Kumail Nanjiani as well as Rupert Friend as the Grand Inquisitor.

Only a short video featuring Ewan McGregor and concept art previewing some of the show’s most important sequences served as genuine promotional material for this series, which has already been filmed and is now complete, according to the network.

As a result of Disney’s recent earnings call, an official release date for Obi-Wan Kenobi’s has been announced.

According to Disney CEO Bob Chapek, the live-action series Obi-Wan Kenobi will premiere on Disney+ on May 25, 2022. This was announced after the conclusion of the company’s first quarter earnings call.

The limited series starring Ewan McGregor will be launched three weeks later than originally anticipated.

In addition, Disney released the first official poster for the program, which featured McGregor as the show’s protagonist, as well as the show’s title and debut date.

During his exile, Obi-Wan Kenobi grew out his hair and beard, and the poster portrays him traveling the desert in a set of armor that has been destroyed from the waist down.

Also notable is the fact that he seems to be brandishing a lightsaber in his right hand, which does not appear to be his own.

The first Star Wars film, Episode IV: A New Hope, was released on May 25, 1977, making this year’s May 25 release date a milestone event in the saga’s history.

Star Wars: The Rise of Obi-Wan Kenobi is the latest installment in a series of new Disney+ series that have built on the Star Wars saga’s heritage.

After 45 years, it only seems natural that the premiere of the first episode of the new Star Wars series will take place on the 25th, the same day that the original Star Wars film debuted in theatres.

By not choosing the May 4th Wednesday release date, Lucasfilm may have been attempting to distinguish itself from Marvel’s Moon Knight or other new shows.

However, we are unsure of the reason for this decision. It doesn’t matter, however, since on May 25th, Lucasfilm will release its second live-action Disney+ project of the year.

Breaking Down The Poster

As for the poster itself, the artwork wonderfully captures where Obi-Wan’s journey has led him post-Episode III, during his exile on Tatooine, and the message it conveys.

However, although the character’s robes and somewhat rugged look are unquestionably important, the lightsaber he’s holding in his right hand is a fantastic Easter egg as well.

This might be Anakin Skywalker’s lightsaber, as some have suggested, which he abandoned on Mustafar in Episode III and which Obi-Wan and Vader will re-meet in this episode, according to the theories of certain fans.

Even though the long-awaited debut trailer for Ewan McGregor’s first Disney+ appearance is still in the works; the first picture for the actor’s first appearance is already garnering a lot of interest.

At this point, it is unclear if the program will be shown during Super Bowl LVI, but the show’s scheduled release date will at the very least keep the crowd at bay.

Obi-Wan Kenobi will be available for streaming on Disney+ starting on May 25, 2022.
