The Oscars have been a revered season for movie lovers and movie makers. With the prestige of best the best racking up on the line, its everyone’s wish to be capable of winning this award. It is for that reason why, big studios are concerned about their movies being nominated for the top award. Winning and Oscar just doesn’t mean nothing; it qualifies anyone to be recognized forever.

Why do Marvel, Sony and DC struggle to keep their hopes up of claiming the golden man every year? It is evident that voters don’t seriously have any interest in comic book movies. Over time, many famed and critical directors have spoken out over the surge of caped heroes on the screen where cinema is supposed to take over. Directors like, Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola and many others have spoken out. Thus, the reverb in their thoughts does travel far and wide.

The 94th Academy Awards are just a few weeks away, and the best of the best from 2021’s cinematic offerings will be up for honour. This includes a new fan-voted possibility for some of the biggest blockbusters of the last few decades to win an Oscar. Even if they don’t win a golden statue, films like Spider-Man: No Way Home, The Suicide Squad, and others will have their day in the spotlight.

Disney, being the hosts of the Oscars this year, have put a lot of effort into making their production look strong. While, their roster for Visual effects and Production design looks strong, it’s difficult to interpret how it couldn’t be Marvel winning this. Marvel’s Visual Effects nominees are Shang-Chi, Black Widow and Spiderman: No Way Home. The fans wondered how a movie like Eternals didn’t make it up there.

But, everyone’s hopes are on Spiderman: No Way Home. In fact, it is the talk of the town because of its guaranteed win for visual effects. On top of that, the option of being nominated as a fan-favorite movie, too, comes in the list of its achievements.

The Oscars’ fan-favorite award is completely new and was recently introduced to highlight such movies. Among the other fan-favorite movies, Spiderman stands close to Cinderella. Spiderman: No Way Home is really one of the most talked about movies of 2021. It was discussed so frequently, it became a trend everyday on Twitter. The fans did make speculations, and really gave way for so many amazing rumors and leaks that hightened the hype for the movie.

Since, the fans have the hype for the movie, it makes fair for the Jon Watts movie to win the votes of the fans.

Even though no DC movie made it to the VFX award list, it makes its way into the fan-favorite award nominees category. With James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, DC fans are assured that their comical heroes are seen in the limelight they deserve.

The Suicide Squad is one of James Gunn’s babies. He was fired from Disney in early 2019 over a set of tweets. His move to DC gave a fresh perspective over the ‘dark and serious tone’ of their movies. When Suicide Squad was released on HBO’s Max, it came out to rave reviews. It was easily called DC’s masterpiece. The movie did perform well enough over OTT.

The fans were impressed by the storyline, action, cinematography and VFX. James Gunn who directed Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, edited the movie. The Suicide Squad could have a chance at winning for its straightforward and no fan service storyline.

Now, it is practical that the two major production houses have had its share of fame. The Oscars have been certain, for one thing; Unpredictability. Even though, the fans will vote this year, it isn’t sure as to whether Marvel has the bigger hand in this. DC is on the same plane, too, just a bit far away. The basis for any movie to win this is solely on the fans. The more the fans discuss, the more that either one of them is coming up for the Grand Prize.

For now, it looks like Cinderella is close to winning the category. It stands as the most voted, this giving a shady view for the two biggies. There’s still time for Spider-Man: No Way Home and The Suicide Squad to launch their own campaigns, and it’s evident that superhero movie fans will make their voices heard in order to help the films succeed.

Spiderman: No Way Home will be out on Digital on March 22 and on Blu ray on April 12th. The Suicide Squad is available to watch on Digital and on Bluray.

The 94th Oscars will go live on March 27th 2022 at the Dolby Theatre. It will be telecast in the US by ABC Broadcasting Networks.
