Could Peter Dinklage’s Marvel return really be in the making? The Avengers was originally a collection of stand-alone heroes in the MCU. Iron Man, Captain America, Spider-Man, and Thor all have their own MCU trilogies. Love and Thunder, Hemsworth’s fourth solo film, will be released on July 8, 2022, setting him apart from the rest of the cast.

It was revealed in Avengers: Endgame that the survivors of Asgard were relocated to Earth under the rule of Thor. Toward the end of the film, Thor joins Peter Quill and the Guardians of the Galaxy on a new adventure, appointing Valkyrie as his heir.

Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster will reprise her role in Taika Waititi’s Love and Thunder. Soon, Thor’s former love interest will be transformed into Mighty Thor, complete with the hammer of Thor wielded in Ragnarok and destroyed by Hela. No one else from previous films has been confirmed to return, but an actor from the Avengers: Infinity War cast has expressed an interest in returning.

Could Peter Dinklage Return To Marvel?

During the promotion of his latest film, Cyrano, actor Peter Dinklage spoke to Empire, and BEJT, an MCU Wiki content moderator, shared the interview.

In Avengers: Infinity War, Dinklage played the dwarf king Eitri, who forged Thor’s axe Stormbreaker and hammer Mjolnir. During an interview, the actor stated that Thor: Love and Thunder would be out soon:

“Well, there’s another Thor movie there, isn’t there? Coming out that Taika’s directed. But, I didn’t say anything. I didn’t say anything.”

It didn’t matter, Dinklage said, what happens to a character in the MCU, because they can always come back. While talking about television shows, “it’s Marvel World, we are just all part of it:”

“If you die in a Marvel movie, doesn’t mean it’s your last Marvel movie. That’s the crazy thing, it doesn’t matter. Somebody could make a TV—now, there’s TV shows. It’s Marvel World, we’re just all part of it.”

A Love and Thunder IMDb listing showcased Lane Friedman as a hairstylist for Dinklage as Eitri, so this isn’t the first time that Dinklage has been teased.

Everyone Stays On Forever In The MCU

There was no word on Eitri’s future after Avengers: Infinity War. Thor had just returned from Wakanda after helping the Avengers fight Thanos when fans last saw him forging Stormbreaker for the God of Thunder.

In Infinity War, Thanos damaged Eitri’s hands while he searched for the Infinity Stones, causing him permanent damage. He couldn’t get Eitri to make him a gauntlet that could leverage the power of all six of the stones, so Thanos melted his hands in melted metal, making him unwilling to forge anything ever again.

In the upcoming film, Jane Foster will be wielding Mjolnir. There are indications that the hammer she’ll be wielding is a copy of the one that was destroyed in Thor: Ragnarok. Peter Dinklage’s Eitri may be in charge of putting it back together because of his expertise in weaponry.

Although it’s not clear if or when Dinklage will return, he does appear to be interested in doing so. If he doesn’t appear in Thor: Love and Thunder, there will be plenty of other opportunities to see him in the future.
