James McAvoy and Sir Patrick Stewart are two actors who will forever be loved by an entire generation of X-Men fans. We have seen Sir Stewart in the MCU as Professor X, albeit for just a little while. As such, now the question is, will James McAvoy too reprise his role in the MCU? The actor gave a cryptic answer to this.

James McAvoy Reveals If He’s In The MCU As Professor X

In an interview with GQ magazine, The interviewer asked if Kevin Feige has called him about appearing in Avengers: Secret War, a movie that’s rumoured to be about a clash of all the live-action Marvel worlds till now. McAvoy replied:

“I’ve definitely not got the call. And if I did I would definitely not be telling you.”

It’s true that even if he did get a call, he wouldn’t be telling us all about it. We know that Andrew Garfield, who returned as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Tatiana Maslaney, who played She-Hulk, had to keep mum even though there were heavy rumours swirling around about their inclusion in the MCU. But what will happen if the actor does spit out about his/her involvement with the MCU?

We have an example of that since Doc Ock actor Alfred Molina, did accidentally reveal that he was a part of No Way Home. And that made Kevin Feige pissed off at him. So even if McAvoy is a part of Secret Wars as Professor X (which we think he is), he isn’t going to shout it out.

The Actor Has ONE Criticism About The Fox X-Men Movies

James McAvoy talked about his experience playing Professor X in the Foxverse Marvel X-Men movies. He said that they were fun and he doesn’t think of them as money gigs. As per McAvoy:

“It was one of the most positive experiences I’ve had with a studio. I don’t really [see them as just] money gigs. Days of Future Past I think is one of the better films that I’ve been involved in.”

But he has one criticism regarding those movies:

“After the first movie, we didn’t take advantage of the relationship between [Xavier and Michael Fassbender’s Magneto], which really formed the backbone of the first film. So it was like, why did we just eject that massive weapon?”

The Foxverse X-Men movies were loved by fans because they were entertaining. But they faced a lot of criticism for not following through with plotlines. Magneto and Xavier’s story was just one of the many casualties of bad decision-making.
