The current Superman news is that J.J. Abrams will probably be producing a Superman movie for WB with Ta Nehisi Coates set to write the iconic hero. Along with this, there’s also heavy rumours that Henry Cavill won’t be involved in this reboot as this movie will reportedly involve a black Superman.
Now there has been no official confirmation of sorts, but Henry Cavill has his own busy schedule and doesn’t have time for WB or Superman apparently. He is busy with The Witcher and a possible Mass Effect project right now.
After all, he isn’t going to stop his career in the hopes that a new Superman movie will get made by WB. Also, it has been about 8 years since Man of Steel came to theatres. So if a sequel was going to be getting made, it would have been made by now.
It also looks like Cavill has made peace with the fact that he will not be playing Superman anymore. After all, a lot of the people who joined him in the DCEU, notably Ben Affleck as Batman have left the universe and Robert Pattinson has already replaced Ben as The Dark Knight.
So right now it looks like DCEU is looking to move forward and leave Snyder’s vision as well as the previous Superman and Batman actors behind.
Rumours have been flying around that MCU’s Robert Downey Jr. has been looking to collaborate with Cavill on a brand new project. But there has been no indication as to what that project could be.
The news comes from insider and scooper Daniel Richtman who has been dropping a lot of Cavill scoops over the past two weeks or so. While we don’t know what project it’s going to be, but we do know what project it won’t be- WB’s Sherlock Holmes 3 isn’t getting made anytime soon. So that’s out of the question.
But what if in traditional MCU and DC style, there was a crossover of the Sherlock Holmes? After all, Cavill has played Holmes too. So maybe RDJ is planning on a Holmes Universe with Cavill, Cumberbatch, and him playing the roles? We know it sounds crazy but that’s all we have till we get a whiff of what RDJ is planning to cook with Cavill.
