In Doctor Strange 2, Benedict Cumberbatch will reprise his role as the titular character. Here, fans will see him try to keep the multiverse from collapsing. Scarlet Witch, Benedict Wong, and newcomer Xochitl Gomez join him in the upcoming sequel.

There’s no end to speculation about who might appear in the film. From Professor X’s return to Mr Fantastic or Deadpool, fan theories have been blowing up online. Ben Affleck was reportedly asked to return as Daredevil by Marvel.

Tony Stark’s Iron Man is one of the many characters rumored to make an appearance. People have even claimed to have seen him in the film’s most recent trailer. There have been rumors about a sequel, and one of the film’s producers has given his thoughts on them.

Is The Return Of Iron Man Just A Rumor?

During an interview with Empire, producer Richie Palmer hinted that Iron Man and the Illuminati might be a part of Doctor Strange 2. Palmer acknowledged that “some rumours [end up being] true, some [don’t],” but said he’d “love to see Tony (Stark) again”:

“As you saw in Spider-Man: No Way Home, some rumors ended up being true, some did not… I would love to see Tony again, but some rumors are just rumors.”

“The Illuminati” is something that Palmer would like to see, and he implied that an MCU-driven version of the fan-favorite comic group could be on the horizon.

“I will say that I love The Illuminati. But if we ever introduce The Illuminati in the future, it might be more MCU-driven and have some more ties to our characters in the MCU, versus just replicating what’s in the comics.”

Will Iron Man Show Up In A Strange Way?

The Multiverse of Madness has a mysterious character hurtling forward in a ball of energy in the most recent trailer. Many people think it’s a clone of Tony Stark’s Iron Man character.

There’s no guarantee that Captain Marvel will show up, but the mystery energy ball is most likely a variant of the superhero. There is a striking similarity between Brie Larson’s on-screen portrayal of these abilities and her previous role in the film.

This might be Larson, but it’s more likely a unique Variant that fits into the Multiverse of Madness concept. The figure resembles someone like Maria or Monica Rambeau, so it’s possible that one of them, rather than Carol Danvers, was the original recipient of Captain Marvel’s powers in that alternate reality.

Where might Tony Stark show up if he does appear in the film? Simply put, the Illuminati are to blame. According to the film’s producer, a number of rumors have suggested that fans will be able to see some form of the group in the upcoming film.

A variant of Iron Man would make perfect sense in a situation like this, since he has long been a key member of the organization. Perhaps he’s one of the shadowy figures who put Doctor Strange on trial in the recently released teaser. Tom Cruise, who has been linked to a return as Iron Man, could play this Stark.
