Fans of the MCU may feel like they’re in a lull right now. However, the Marvel Studios vehicle will be in full gear for the new year. For now, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is the most anticipated. On May 6, Stephen Strange and Scarlet Witch will return to the big screen in a spellbinding sequel.

Doctor Strange is sure to be intrigued by Olsen’s Avenger’s dark magic from her own Disney+ series, WandaVision, which ended last year.

Thought to be a villain, Ms. Maximoff has been featured prominently in the movie’s marketing thus far. Her narrative in Strange’s adventure has not been given specifics. Nonetheless, the latest quotes do glimpse at what the two can expect from one another.

Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness co-producer Richie Palmer hinted at some surprises for Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff in the upcoming sequel in the Spring 2022 issue of Disney’s D23 magazine.

“Fans have been eager to see [this] for years,” Palmer said of the Scarlet Witch and Doctor Strange team-up. Palmer added that they ‘ve got to do it in a “pretty fun, unique way:”

“They are arguably two of the most – if not the most – powerful beings in the MCU. It was only a matter of time before we got them together, and we do it in a pretty fun, unique way.”

That isn’t to say this will be standard or run-of-the-mill by any means. This is so, as the Marvel producer mentions, that despite being a “classic Marvel team-up” the two “do some things together that you’d never expect to see them do:”

“It’s a classic Marvel team-up, but they do some things together that you’d never expect to see them do.”

As Palmer points out, “Wanda has been through a lot”. However, “she really knows who she is” following WandaVision, so this will be a new experience for Wanda. This new sense of “self-actualization” is sure to play a role in Palmer’s upcoming surprises.

There’s A Lot To Expect From The Multiverse

If the Multiverse of Madness marketing campaign has taught fans anything, it’s that the upcoming MCU sequel will deliver the unexpected. Because the movie looks like a trippy, cameo-filled trip through the Multiverse, it should come as no surprise that fans will be surprised by some of the circumstances Wanda and Strange find themselves in.

However, what could the specific details of those unforeseen hijinks be? Considering that the Marvel Illuminati are said to appear in the film, could Wanda become tangled up with them? Maybe she runs into someone she’s seen before, like in the X-Men cartoons of the 1990s? There is no end to the possibilities when working with the Multiverse.

The word “team-up” is used to describe the relationship between Strange and the Scarlet Witch. Olsen’s sorcerer has been widely assumed to be an antagonist in the upcoming film, but if she is actually joining forces with Stephen Strange and co., then it may not be the case.
