Secret Wars Theory: Kang Replaces Beyonder In MCU Phase 5 Event

By Mabel Judith Andrady
May 2,2022

What is the Secret Wars theory about? To be sure, we’re still in Phase 4, but there are characters and events that could pave the way for even bigger things in Phase 5, which is still shrouded in mystery. One popular Marvel Comics storyline, Secret Wars, suggests that MCU director Ryan Coogler may use Kang the Conqueror instead of the Beyonder. Multiverse is one of the main concepts being explored in MCU Phase 4, as well as a number of other new characters and stories.

Loki, NWH, and the Multiverse of Madness show that Marvel’s concept of the multiverse extends beyond the MCU to include other universes, such as the Sony Spider-Man Universe, as well as different timelines within the MCU, such as those created by the Time Heist in Avengers: Endgame. Following the death of He Who Remains, Sylvie killed him, making way for multiverse chaos and the arrival of Kang the Conqueror, a variant of He Who Remains, to arrive in Phase 4.

Sylvie returned Loki to the Time Variance Authority’s headquarters after killing He Who Remains, but when Loki tried to warn Mobius, he didn’t recognize him because he had already traveled to a different timeline, one in which Kang the Conqueror is in charge of the TVA. While Kang will be back in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum Mania to serve as the main villain, it’s possible that this will lead to an adaptation of Secret Wars, where Kang could replace the Beyonder and take over as Phase 5’s primary antagonist.

The Secret Wars of Marvel Comics: An Explanation

Hickman's Secret Wars

Marvel

Despite the fact that the premise of the two Secret Wars events was the same, the stories developed in a different way at Marvel. The first one, written by Jim Shooter and featuring artwork by Mike Zeck and Bob Layton, was available from May 1984 to April 1985. While watching the mainstream Marvel universe, the Beyonder notices the presence of superheroes on Earth and becomes intrigued by their potential, so he selects and teleports a small group of heroes and villains to Battleworld.

To pit these characters against one another, the Beyonder sends them to this planet in the farthest galaxy, which is stocked with alien weapons and technology. He promises those who kill their enemies what they want. Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribi wrote and illustrated the second Secret Wars storyline, which was released in 2015 and had a more complex plot than the first one. Marvel Universe and various alternate universes were annihilated in this one, which resulted in Battleworld being formed.

The Deadlands contained Marvel Zombies, New Xandar contained the Annihilation Wave, and Perfection contained the Perfection Wave. Each of these “pocket universes” occupied a different region of the planet. In order to save the multiverse, Doctor Doom and Doctor Strange traveled to the Beyonders, where Doom used the Beyonders’ powers to create Battleworld, which incorporated the ruins of the realities destroyed by the incursions.

Marvel

After Spider-Man: No Way Home’s chaotic events, the multiverse continues to spiral out of control with each new storyline. Despite the fact that Dr. Strange closed the multiverse’s gates at the end, his actions will have major repercussions on the multiverse, unleashing new threats and further attempting to destroy the already fragile fabric of time and space.

If the MCU already has multiple timelines and universes, tailoring Secret Wars and bringing them all together in one world could be a solution. As a result of this, the MCU would be in for a lot of chaos and conflict, especially if Kang the Conqueror is the puppet master of Battleworld instead of the Beyonder.

According to Secret Wars Theory Kang Will Replace Beyonder

KANG THE CONQUEROR

Marvel

The IGN theory suggests that Secret Wars could be the MCU’s Phase 5 main event, and Kang the Conqueror will be the bad guy to defeat instead of the Beyonder. A member of the ancient otherworldly race known as the Beyonders, the Beyonder is a cosmic being. The Beyonder is a powerful psionic, able to alter the state of matter, manipulate reality, and erase memories of himself. He can also neutralize psychic probes from telepaths and scan the minds of the entire world.

Although Kang, the Beyonder, is a formidable force in the MCU, and IGN points this out, he hasn’t been introduced yet, so it doesn’t make sense to have him just as the antagonist in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania; he must be on his way to setting up something much bigger. Since Kang is in charge of the TVA, he has the power and resources to decide to merge all of the parallel universes and timelines that the MCU characters have unleashed into a single world.

And even though he has not been introduced yet, the Secret Wars theory suggests that he may be the Beyonder in this universe’s version of Secret Wars. While this new world will feature a wide variety of characters, dangerous settings, and more as it prepares for a major conflict in the MCU’s history, Kang, its creator and overseer, is the greatest threat to defeat.

That Kang Is The New Thanos Confirms His Role in Secret Wars

Kang The Conqueror and thanos

Marvel

As the MCU continues to grow, many wonder who the next Thanos will be: a villain who appears in multiple stories and is responsible for events leading up to the MCU’s biggest moment. It’s possible that Kang is on his way to filling Thanos’s shoes as the mastermind behind the MCU’s Secret Wars and Battleworld.

Like Thanos, Kang’s motivation would be to conquer other realities by fusing them together. If the Secret¬† Wars theory came true, Kang would be leading the MCU into a major event in Phase 5, and he would be an even more difficult threat to defeat than the Mad Titan. The events of Phase 4 of the MCU have already laid the groundwork for Secret Wars in Phase 5, and with Kang the Conqueror tipped to be a major player, he could be on his way to leading this storyline.
