Felicia Hardy, popularly known as “Black Cat,” is a fan favorite character in not only Spider-Man comics but also numerous videogames and animated shows. Black Cat serves as Spider-Man’s criminal turned reluctant friend turned love interest. Their relationship is still in turmoil, both romantically and professionally, to this day.
According to recent speculations, Shailene Woodley, who was cast as Mary Jane Watson in the Marc Webb Spider-Man movies, has been in talks with Sony Pictures about possibly playing Felicia Hardy in Sony’s Spider-Man universe.
Shailene Woodley Can Be A Pretty Amazing Black Cat
Shailene Woodley is a major actor who was seen as Hazel Grace in “The Fault in Our Stars,” where she delivered one of the movie’s standout performances.
Woodley has the cool element required to play the fashionable and confident Felica Hardy, as well as the sensitivity shown in “Insurgent.” Seeing her play a complex, tormented Black Cat in this capacity may lead to an intriguing romantic relationship between her and Spider-Man.
She Was Already Mary Jane
Shailene Woodley played Mary Jane Watson in the Amazing Spider-Man universe, alongside Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker. Her role was cut before the film’s release. Marc Webb, the film’s director, felt that the sequel already had too many characters. She was supposed to feature in The Amazing Spider-Man 3 as Peter’s new love interest, but the film was cancelled.
She even filmed scenes with Andrew Garfield (seen below), but they were never used.
Why Black Cat Making An Appearance Would Be Perfect
Given that Black Cat has always been more interested in Spider-Man than in Peter Parker, this is the ideal time for her big-screen debut. When Black Cat was first introduced as Spider-Man’s newest villain by Marv Wolfman and Keith Pollard in The Amazing Spider-Man #194, the two eventually crossed paths in their superhero identities. Less out of guilt than out of a want to be near the enigmatic man in the mask, Black Cat’s face turned. When Mary Jane and Peter were having a bad time, Peter was pleased to invite her in.
Tom Holland will play Spider-Man in a fourth movie, that has already been confirmed. Even while it might take some time for them to return to Peter’s life, it’s probable that we haven’t seen the last of MJ or Ned either. Fortunately, the next Spider-Man movie should have Felicia Hardy, a.k.a. the Black Cat, to fill this gap in the supporting cast and to confront Peter while he is in his existing crisis.
