Ms. Marvel and Shang-Chi are two of the newest entries in the MCU. Both of them are set up to be a part of the new team of Avengers and rumors say that they will be a part of the group in “Captain America: New World Order“. The MCU has introduced mysteries about the powers of these two heroes. We still don’t know where did Shang-Chi’s Ten Rings or Ms. Marvel’s bangles come from. There are various theories going around about their origins. Here’s a new one that’s more intriguing than the rest.
Where Did Ms. Marvel And Shang-Chi’s Weapons Come From?
As per the Twitter account MCU Source, Ms. Marvel’s bangles and Shang-Chi’s Ten Rings aren’t magical or made of alien tecgnology. Instead they are made of 31st century tech by Kang. Check out the tweet below:

“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” revealed that Shang-Chi’s father, Xu Wenwu, had the Ten Rings which he used to win wars and stay in powers for hundreds of years. At the end of the movie, Shang-Chi gets those rings. In the post-credits scene of the film, we see Captain Marvel and Bruce Banner deduce that the rings are way older than anyone realized. They also say that the rings have sent a signal and it now remains to be seen who answers it.
As for “Ms. Marvel,” the show tells us that Kamala gets her powers from the bangles. The magical bangle belonged to her great-grandmother and Kamala can access its powers because of her mutant genes. So when Kamala wore it, it transferred her great-grandmother Aisha’s powers to her.
What Are The Origins Of The Ten Rings And Bangles In The Comics?
In Marvel Comics, Shang-Chi’s Ten Rings contain the souls of various alien warriors of a dragon-like race called Axonn-Karr. They belong from a planet called Maklu-IV and came to Earth to conquer/ explore it. But the natives of Earth defeated them and forced them to retreat to a cave. It is there that The Mandarin got the Ten Rings. The Maklu-IV star travelers used the rings as a power source to power the engine of their ships.
As for Ms Marvel, the show has kept a lot of her backstory similar to the comics. However, there’s some major differences. For one, in the comics, her bangle is just a trinket where her great-grandmother used to store cash to escape Bombay during the Partition. In the show, the bangles are imbued with her great-grandmother’s powers which then got transferred to her.
Also, in the comics she’s an Inhuman who developed her powers after getting exposed to Terrigen Mists. She’s a polymorph who can elongate her limbs and can turn herself into inanimate objects as well. It’s well-known that Marvel Studios decided to change her powerset to ensure that it didn’t clash with The Fantastic Four’s Reed Richards later on.
The Kang Factor?
It’s definitely possible that Kang is the one who made these two weapons out of 31st century tech. After all, a version of Kang called Nathaniel Richards was born in the 30th century. He was a descendant of Reed Richards or Dr. Doom (depending on which source you go by). So if Marvel Studios does go on this path, then it will connect Shang-Chi and Kamala Khan stories to Kang more closely.
There are other theories floating around that state that Kang originally had the Ten Rings, the Bangles, and his Chair. All of this were stolen and that’s why he’s stuck in the Quantum Realm. As such, it’s possible that he will try to get his weapons back from each of them. It will be interesting to see how Marvel Studios actually proceeds with the origin problem of the Ten Rings and the Bangles.
