Shazam! Fury of the Gods, the sequel to the successful DC film Shazam! (2019), is set to hit theaters this Friday. The first movie garnered a 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, raising the question of whether the upcoming sequel can achieve similar success. In an interview, Grace Caroline Currey, who plays Mary Bromfield, shares her insights on the film.

Bigger, Better, And Action-Packed

Currey believes the sequel has the potential to surpass the original, stating, “Oh gosh, it’s bigger and there’s more people, even more people than the first time, there’s more monsters, there’s more action.” She explains that the sequel builds on the foundation established by the first film, with the characters embarking on a new adventure and showcasing their powers more prominently.

Star-Studded Cast

The sequel features returning cast members Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Adam Brody, Ross Butler, Meagan Good, D.J. Cotrona, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Marta Milans, and Cooper Andrews. New additions to the cast include Rachel Zegler, Lucy Liu, and Helen Mirren.

Currey’s Unique Dual Role

Currey has a distinctive position in Shazam! Fury of the Gods, as she portrays both Mary Bromfield and Super Hero Mary, making her the only actor to play two different characters. Currey expressed her excitement about the opportunity, as it allowed her to delve deeper into her character and partake in more action sequences.

Transition From First Film To Sequel

In the first Shazam! film, Currey played Mary Bromfield, while Michelle Borth portrayed Super Hero Mary. Currey discussed how she and Borth had conversations during the first movie about portraying Mary consistently between their two performances. While there were no discussions about how to be a superhero, Currey believes the suit does much of the work in that regard.
