She-Hulk episode 9 season finale has been released on Disney+ and it is not what fans expected. MCU fans had a lot of theories about how She-Hulk would end but no one could have predicted what actually happened. We have seen Jen Walters breaking the fourth wall every now and then. However, the fourth wall breaking in episode 9 was unbelievable. Although the finale may be considered anticlimactic by many fans. The only thing that we know for sure is that the audience will be left polarized. Fans will either hate the finale or absolutely love it. But there will be no in-between. And we’re here to tell you the good and bad of the episode.

The perfect ending for She-Hulk

While the ending of She-Hulk episode 9 itself is debatable, there is no arguing that the ending was perfectly in line with the tone of the show. She-Hulk: Attorney at Law has been known for breaking stereotypes of the superhero genre. In fact, they have been breaking the fourth wall by being super self-aware. Jen even describes the show as a legal comedy sitcom of sorts. It wanted to avoid the big finale with complicated interconnecting conflicts and big reveals. The highlight of the episode was the fourth wall breaking, jokes about the VFX budget and Tatiana Maslany herself.

The ending felt rushed

The one thing that the showrunners could have done is make the finale episode a bit longer. The ending with Todd Phelps and abomination felt extremely rushed. We barely got to see Jen process her emotions regarding her life falling apart and even the trauma left by Josh. The episode would have felt more real if Jen grappled with those emotions and the fact that she too can lose control over herself. After all, we have seen how much Bruce feared the Hulk and the rage that overcame him.

Titania was heavily underused

While we understand that the show is Jen’s and will focus on her story, Titania deserved better characterization. The episodes of She-Hulk have been extremely short and have not been able to cover all aspects. This has definitely been a major let down for the show. It has also cost Titania who is now no more than a jealous influencer with no interesting backstory at all. The MCU has successfully fleshed out a villain and a hero in a show before. In Daredevil, not only did we see Matt Murdock and his past but we also saw how Wilson Fisk became the ruthless Kingpin. Titania deserves the same justice.

Daredevil returns

Matt Murdock’s return to She-Hulk was insignificant to the bigger storyline. But it was definitely a great moment seeing him dine with Jen’s family and get grilled by them about kids. It was cute and sweet and fit right into She-Hulk’s lighthearted sense of humor.

Fourth wall breaking and great characters

The entire sequence of fourth wall breaking was probably the best idea Marvel has had in the entire season of She-Hulk. The jokes about the VFX were hilarious. The MCU also admitted that it is indeed a fictional world. Jen was super relatable during this bit as she asked K.E.V.I.N. about the X-Men. She-Hulk’s season finale also really came full circle with the characters. Watching Nikki and Pug infiltrate the Intelligenica was so much funnier than what I was expecting. It was great seeing Mallory Book be the badass lawyer she is. And obviously Bruce coming back with Skaar from planet Sakaar perfectly sets up the World War Hulk storyline.
