In Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, fans see Emil Blonsky aka Abomination throwing punches at Wong in a clandestine fight club, and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law has now revealed why debunking previous rumors including mine.

Wong Needed Someone To Train! Really?

In the most recent episode, we saw how Wong coerced Tim Roth’s character, Emil Blonsky, into becoming the Abomination so that he may participate in Shang-underground Chi’s fighting club. The released film of the bout, which is concrete proof that he fled from jail, risks undermining the whole case when Jen Walters alias She-Hulk offers to defend Emil at his sentencing hearing.  Even if Emil claims he was coerced out of his prison by “a Sorcerer Supreme of the Mystic Arts” called Wong, he should nevertheless be eligible for release because he returned of his own free choice.

Abomination was released from his confinement because the wizard needed a good rival to battle as part of his preparation to succeed Strange as the next Sorcerer Supreme. During Blonsky’s sentencing hearing, Wong stated that Blonsky returned to his cage to serve out his punishment rather than seek sanctuary at Kamar-Taj after learning that the former was accountable for Abomination’s escape. Due to Wong’s confession, Blonsky was freed on parole with the stipulation that he refrain from ever again transforming into his alter-ego.

Although Emil Blonsky was introduced to the MCU as an antagonist, he is seen to have been rehabilitated in She-Hulk. After getting discharged on parole, Blonsky uses his newfound freedom to establish a meditative journey with his newfound soulmates. Specials have featured the persona, properly costumed as the Abomination, striding through a throng of his supporters, suggesting that it won’t be long until the clause that stipulates Blonsky cannot convert into the Abomination publicly is breached.

Is Wong Finally a Permanent Part of MCU

We first see Wong in the first installment of Dr. Strange at Kamar-Taj where the former is tasked with safeguarding the library’s most priceless artifacts. He formed a strong friendship with Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, and the duo collaborated on several subsequent MCU projects like Endgame, Infinity war, and Multiverse of Madness.

Since the beginning of Phase 4, Wong has made many appearances in the MCU, including three movies and two TV shows. Because of this, Comic book fans have taken to calling the present MCU period “Phase Wong,” in the sincere expectation that the figure would make more appearances throughout the rest of Phase 4. Even Jessica Gao, the writer of She-Hulk said- “We’re in the Wong Cinematic Universe.”

“Benedict Wong is so great. I love him,” she says. “He was such a joy to have around set — he would DJ in between camera setups and start dance parties. He had this really bright, positive energy. He was so wonderful. And he’s so funny too. It was just so fun being able to pull him out of all these high intense, dramatic situations and putting him in the funniest [situations].”
