Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was a bright spot for Marvel fans in a Phase filled with mediocre projects and subpar CGI. The film paid tribute to Chadwick Boseman’s legacy while pushing the story forward and making Shuri the new Black Panther. But as per the original draft, the movie was going to be about something else entirely. Since we didn’t see that version of the film, now Ant-Man 3 will probably carry out that plot. How? Let us explain.

Black Panther 2 Had A Father-Son Plot

During an interview with The New York Times, Ryan Coogler opened up about the original script of the movie. He said that the plan was for for T’Challa to come back after the blip and meet his son who was 5 years old then. He said:

“It was, What are we going to do about the Blip? That was the challenge. It was absolutely nothing like what we made. It was going to be a father-son story from the perspective of a father, because the first movie had been a father-son story from the perspective of the sons. In the (original) script, T’Challa was a dad who’d had this forced five-year absence from his son’s life. The first scene was an animated sequence. You hear Nakia talking to Toussaint. She says, ‘Tell me what you know about your father.'”

He further explained:

“Then, we cut to reality, and it’s the night that everybody comes back from the Blip. You see T’Challa meet the kid for the first time. Then it cuts ahead three years, and he’s essentially co-parenting (with Nakia).”

Ryan Coogler also mentioned that for his son’s eighth birthday, T’Challa would take Toussaint out to do a ritual. As per his words:

“Our code name for the movie was ‘Summer Break’, and the movie was about a summer that the kid spends with his dad. For his eighth birthday, they do a ritual where they go out into the bush and have to live off the land. But something happens, and T’Challa has to go save the world with his son on his hip. That was the movie.”

While it’s tragic that we couldn’t see this version, but the one we actually got also was beautiful and fulfilling. However, it looks like we won’t be totally deprived of this storyline as it will probably be done in Ant-Man 3.

Ant-Man 3 Will Be A Father-Daughter Story

During an interview with Nerdbunker, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania director Peyton Reed, explained that the movie will be about Scott grappling with the fact that he lost precious time with his daughter Cassie Lang due to Thanos’ Snap. He also said that in the movie Cassie will be about 18 years old. Check out the interview below:

Also, from the trailers and clips released till now, it definitely looks like Ant-Man 3 will be a father-daughter adventure in the Quantum Realm. Many have theorized that Scott will give up his life to save Cassie’s and that will motivate her to form the Young Avengers. After all, there are already rumors that Kate Bishop will appear in Ant-Man 3 and she is another member of the Young Avengers in the comics.

So it feels like even though we didn’t get to see the father-son bonding in Black Panther 2, but we will possibly see that plot play out in Ant-Man 3 with Scott and Cassie in some manner. As for how it will end, let us know your thoughts.
