Originally scheduled for release in July 2020, Sony’s upcoming Marvel movie Morbius was postponed no fewer than seven times. Furthermore, based on early feedback, it appears that the movie may not be worth the wait. Despite the fact that Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic have yet to publish their first official reviews and numbers, some of the first reviews that surfaced on Twitter appear to be extremely negative.

The movie is allegedly messy, boring, uncalculated, and without consistency; Meanwhile, some tweets begin with the phrase “I’ve heard…” These tweeters have not yet seen the movie. According to one of the authors, although there are a few hidden gems, the film isn’t worth seeing in a theater.

The Reviews Are In…

Meanwhile, Brandom Matthews confirms that the movie is probably “boring and uncalculated”:

Alternatively, critic KC Walsh called those who thought Morbius “would be anything more than a dumpster fire is either stupid or lying”:

Morbius May Not Be All That Bad

The third film in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe will be Morbius, following the two Venom films. At first, it was expected to be released by July 2020. However, the movie was filmed in 2019 and the first trailer appeared in January 2020. In spite of this, the release date of the film has been pushed back several times, most recently from January to April 1.

We can’t wait to stop watching this movie, and we’re not betting that it will be a big hit at the box office. For a $75 million budget, we’ll see if the movie can return that money and still make enough to be considered successful. In comparison, the $110 million budgeted Venom 2 grossed $502 million worldwide in its October release.

With Jared Leto in the lead, Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Al Madrigal and Tyrese Gibson rounding out the ensemble cast. At the same time, Morbius is directed by Daniel Espinosa. Adrian Toomes, played by Michael Keaton in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, is also returning to the film.
