Pete Davidson, known for his impressive performances on Saturday Night Live and in movies like The King of Staten Island, has made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut. This happened in the latest project of the mega-franchise, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Davidson had already worked with the director/writer James Gunn on a small role in 2021’s The Suicide Squad in the DCU. He played the character Blackguard and got less than five minutes of screentime as he was the first to be killed.

Director James Gunn took a selfie on the set of Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, where he was alongside Star-Lord actor Chris Pratt and MCU newcomer Pete Davidson. Gunn confirmed with a caption that Davidson had a cameo role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, with the actor dressed as one of the High Evolutionary’s guards in the villain’s (destroyed) main room.

Davidson was not the only DC star to make an appearance in the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 movie. Chukwudi Iwuji, who played the High Evolutionary, first appeared under Gunn’s watch as Clemson Murn in DC’s Peacemaker before jumping to the MCU. Daniela Melchior (Ratcatcher-2) and Jennifer Holland (Emilia Harcourt) also joined the cast after their roles in The Suicide Squad.

After working with both Marvel Studios and the DC Universe, many are wondering if Davidson will take on a bigger role in either universe. With new projects on the way in James Gunn’s DC slate, he could potentially play a new, bigger part in one of the nearly dozen projects announced thus far. He could also reprise his role as Blackguard, allowing him another chance to explore the character more deeply.

As for the MCU’s Multiverse Saga, many will wonder if Davidson would return for a bigger role now that Gunn has moved on to his job as the co-CEO of DC Studios. Nonetheless, Guardians of the Galaxy 3 provided a fun opportunity for Davidson to join Gunn’s wild adventure, which is already being praised as one of the best movies in MCU history.
