Spider-Man: No Way Home was released a little over a year ago, but no official information on Spider-Man 4 has been revealed. Despite earlier this year’s rumours to the contrary, the film is set to be released in the summer of 2024, though neither Marvel Studios nor Sony Pictures have made any statements on the subject.

Regardless, one of Spider-Man’s most popular spin-off characters is getting his own Amazon Prime series.

Amazon is officially pushing forward with various live-action projects based on Marvel characters controlled by Sony.
Back in November, it was revealed that the companies that own the on-screen Spidey rights would be creating a number of “diverse, character-forward, watercooler series” based on the webhead’s universe.

The proposed television series, along with the impending Silk: Spider Society title, would be Amazon’s second Sony and Marvel venture. The focus will be on the titular Silk hero from the “infinite multiverses” of the Spider-Verse. However, it is now crystal clear that Silk is only the beginning.

An Upcoming Spider-Man Noir Series

Spider-Man Noir may not be featured in Sony’s upcoming Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sequels, but it appears that the gritty, black-and-white Marvel hero is set to make his live-action debut in a new Amazon series.

According to Variety, Sony and Amazon are creating a Spider-Man television series with an undisclosed title that “would feature an older, grizzled superhero in 1930s New York City.” The unnamed live-action series will centre on a more traditional version of the famous wall-crawler operating in 1930s New York. It will not focus on Peter Parker and take place in a distinct Spider-Man universe, according to the statement.

Amy Pascal, Oren Uziel (creator of Mortal Kombat, The Cloverfield Paradox, and The Lost City), Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and the new show are in charge of executive production.

The news of the new series came just a few weeks after Nicolas Cage, who voiced Spider-Man Noir in Into the Spider-Verse, revealed on Screen Rant that he hadn’t been invited back for Across the Spider-Verse and wasn’t certain what the character’s future held.

Chris Miller lauded the announcement, writing, “It’s going to be amazing.”

“Can confirm! And also confirm that it’s going to be amazing.”

This comes just after Sony revealed their streaming ambitions for Spider-Man, with Silk: The Spider Society being the initial project to be revealed.
It is still uncertain which other Marvel characters will appear in the other Amazon series, despite the fact that Sony now owns over 900 Spider-Man franchise-related characters.

Spider-Man Noir: An Introduction

Spider-Man Noir
Spider-Man Noir

Spider-Man Noir is a gritty, darker Spidey who has a lot of potential for on-screen narrative, despite the fact that most people only know him as the silly character.  Nicolas Cage played Noir in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (a role the actor has stated he will not reprise).

In the comic books, Peter Parker’s alter ego, Spider-Man Noir, works as a superpowered private eye (P.I.) in 1930s New York City. Instead of the standard fantasy comic book material found in other Spider-Man stories, this version of the superhero told grounded, Batman-style investigative mysteries.

Given how devoted Marvel Studios and Sony have been to the original webhead, the idea of a live-action, black-and-white Spider-Man programme about someone who isn’t Peter Parker would still seem a little odd even if it weren’t an Amazon Studios project. But because Sony is in a position to collaborate with companies like Amazon to release projects like this and Angela Kang’s previously announced Silk: Spider Society because Sony owns all the film rights to a significant percentage of the entire Spider-Man brand.

Stay tuned for additional updates.
