Spider-Man’s spider-sense is arguably his most useful and iconic power. It’s a precognitive ability that alerts him to danger before it happens, making it an essential tool in his arsenal. However, in Marvel’s ultimate crossover with DC, Spider-Man lost this power.

Spider-Boy vs Scavulture

Spider-Boy vs Scavulture

In the Amalgam Universe comic Spider-Boy Team-Up #1, Spider-Boy, the amalgamation of Spider-Man and Superboy, battles Scavulture, a version of Spider-Man’s classic villain, the Vulture. Scavulture is deadlier than his Earth-616 counterpart, with a powerful laser beam device attached to one of his eyes that Spider-Boy can’t anticipate. After Scavulture shoots Spider-Boy out of the sky, Spider-Boy comments on how he wishes he had a power that would alert him to danger before it happened, indicating that he doesn’t have a spider-sense.

Spider-Boy’s Powers

Spider-Boy

Spider-Boy is a clone of Peter Parker created under Project Cadmus, a governmental/military project designed to create super soldiers. He was made to be an even better version of Super-Soldier, the amalgamation of Superman and Captain America. Therefore, Spider-Boy was given versions of some powers that align more closely with Superboy than Spider-Man, including one described as ‘gravity manipulation’.

Spider-Boy’s Lack Of Spider-Sense

Spider-Sense

In the Amalgam Universe continuity, Spider-Boy is a perfect amalgamation of Spider-Man and Superboy. He couldn’t have every power from just one of his halves, but only half the powers from both of his original halves. Therefore, it makes sense that the Amalgam Universe Spider-Man variant doesn’t have a spider-sense.

The Loss Of Spider-Man’s Most Iconic Power

Spider-Man

Spider-Man’s spider-sense is a crucial tool in his crime-fighting arsenal, allowing him to anticipate danger and react accordingly. The lack of this power in the Amalgam Universe Spider-Man variant is a disappointment to both fans and in-world characters alike. Even Spider-Boy knew that he was robbed during Marvel and DC’s ultimate crossover.
