Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Spider-Man: No Way Home were blockbuster successes. Next up in the Spider-Man franchise is Morbius with Jared Leto.
So Sony Pictures is experiencing unprecedented success with its superhero movies. But this isn’t the end of the line for Sony’s Spider-Man franchise.
The studio has multiple projects in development like Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Kraven the Hunter and Olivia Wilde-directed Spider-Woman . Out of these two movies, Sony’s decision to make a film about a Spider-Man villain surprised many.
Details about this movie spread like wildfire once Tom Holland talked about plans to feature Kraven in the No Way Home film if the multiversal plans got abandoned.
But then again, with Venom becoming a successful franchise, this decision shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. But what surprised people, even more, was the casting of Taylor-Johnson as the lead of the movie.
After all, he played an MCU character- Quicksilver, and now he is going to portray another one. We don’t know much about the plot of the movie. But rumors from the grapevine indicate that Calypso and Chameleon, two Marvel comic book characters, might be in the film.
Now, after a long time, we have some more rumors that provide an update about the movie’s filming schedule.
Sony’s Kraven The Hunter Movie Will Begin Filming Soon
Charles Murphy of Murphy’s Multiverse reports that production on the Kraven the Hunter movie will begin soon. He stated that production would begin within the next month in the UK.
Also, it was reported that Aaron Taylor-Johnson had significantly bulked up to match the physique of Kraven. So comic book fans who are always looking for accuracy shouldn’t be worried.
A Formidable Villain For Spider-Man In The Future
The reported start date, if true, will be great for the movie since it is going to release in 2023. But it does strike us as a little odd to have filming dates this soon when nothing much is known about the movie.
We don’t know who else has been cast in the movie apart from Aaron Taylor-Johnson. The only other actor rumored to join is Jodie Turner-Smith.
So if the report is indeed true, we should get more details about the movie soon. Aaron Taylor-Johnson is committed to making the movie. This can be seen in the body transformations he has undertaken, like multiple other actors for their superhero roles.
Murphy reports that Taylor-Johnson wants to match Kraven’s strength from the comics, which was increased to even higher levels thanks to Calypso’s magic.
So Kraven is going to be a formidable and powerful villain for Holland’s Spider-Man, should they ever cross paths.
Kraven the Hunter is slated to release in theaters on January 13, 2023.
