A new American television series called The Book of Boba Fett has been developed and will air in the near future. The series will stream on Disney+. In the Star Wars universe, it is a spin-off that features the bounty hunter Boba Fett from ‘The Mandalorian’ series and other Star Wars media. Before Lucasfilm began prioritizing its streaming programs such as The Mandalorian, several attempts were made to produce a solo Star Wars feature based on Boba Fett. There have been rumors of a possible spin-off series for ‘The Mandalorian’ since November 2020.

Although there are a number of possible directions the creative team may pursue, the story’s development has been kept under wraps. Based on history, fans should expect an early peek at the series within two months, whether it’s through a teaser or an article by leading media sources. It’s up to the project’s participants to build hype till then. Nonetheless, one of the show’s executive producers has recently pushed things to a whole new level with his comments.

The Star Wars Franchise Has Big Shoes To Fill

The Mandalorian was a big hit. But to say that ‘The book of Boba Fett’ will be even bigger is one intrepid statement to make. The one to make such a bold claim is none other than the Star Wars Director himself, Robert  Rodriguez. While the Star Wars franchise has many hits, as it should, there have also been some flops. It is certain that fans of the franchise don’t care about the failed shows and movies. However, what can seem concerning for critiques and enthusiasts is when an item of the franchise is being oversold.

With no intention to downgrade the upcoming ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ show’, it is very much plausible that the series might just be another hit. In the show, Temeura Morrison will play Boba Fett. Along with him, Ming-Na Wen will star as Fennec Shand.

Being a spin-off of “The Mandalorian” has brought high expectations down on the showrunners, cast and the rest of the crew. Most importantly, at the time when competitor companies like Marvels and DC have potential mega-hits namely, ‘Spider-Man: No Way home’ and ‘The Batman’ respectively, it is nothing obvious that the Star Wars franchise have to buckle up.

Rodriguez Says Boba Fett Will ‘Over-Deliver’

Long story short, ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ has a big shoe to fit. According to Robert Rodriguez in an interview with Collider, The Book of Boba Fett “way-over over-delivers.”

“[I] can’t say anything about it at all right now, but it’s coming out in December… Wait until you see what’s coming. It’s going to blow your mind. That’s all I can say. I can talk it up all I want, because I know it over-delivers. It way over-delivers. People are going to be so pumped when they see it.”

Now, is that Rodriguez being optimistic or (over) confident? Robert Rodriguez was in charge of Boba Fett’s triumphant comeback in The Mandalorian’s second season, and the filmmaker took a novel approach to the character’s fighting sequences in the episode. With Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni on board as executive producers for The Book of Boba Fett, fans can anticipate a lot more from him in the future. When it comes to “blowing your mind”, the individuals and the events that happen will surely play a major role.

Cast, Release date and more

It’s been reported that various characters from The Mandalorian will appear in Boba Fett, including Mando himself. Bossk is rumored to be participating in the project, while Cad Bane could also be making his live-action debut. In War of the Bounty Hunters, Qi’ra and Crimson Dawn are being set up as major players, though nothing has been confirmed. There’s a chance that the building conflict gets even more attention when Crimson Reign debuts later this fall.

The series is set to release in December 2021. With just a few more months left, anticipating fans are eagerly awaiting its streaming and have shared their thoughts on social media platforms to share their excitement.

Another fan reminds the Star Wars fan universe that the series is only 3 months away and that they rewatch the Mandalorian finale. This is what their tweet read;

Meanwhile, fans have also conceptualizing fan theories. One fan theory believes that ‘The Book of Boba Fett could be a setup for Omega. In line with this, another fan says that there is a link between Omega and Boba Fett. This being said, the fan believes that an adult Omega will show up in the upcoming series.
