In the whole Star Wars timeline, few have wielded the Force’s power, like Emperor Palpatine or Darth Vader. After Vader joined the dark side, nothing could have stopped him from fulfilling his goals.

But, the Emperor still controlled Darth Vader when the Galactic Empire was ruling. However, even before we learned about the backstory of Anakin Skywalker in the Prequel Trilogy, we knew that Darth Vader wanted to overthrow the Emperor.

At the end of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, Vader reveals Luke’s father. Thus, offering him the chance to defeat Palpatine and rule over the galaxy together.

In this iconic scene, audiences learn just where Vader’s actual loyalties lie. However, during that time, fans predicted that he might have been lying to tempt Luke.

Now that the entire Skywalker Saga is over on the big screen, it’s easy to determine that Vader wanted to rule over the galaxy himself. This fact is further corroborated by various accompanying comics, books, etc. Now, what if there was an artefact that allowed him to do just that? Would he have used it?

New Star Wars Comic Reveals New Powerful Artifact

Aphra and her allies find a Thought Dowser in Alyssa Wong and Minkyu Jung’s Star Wars: Doctor Aphra #15 comic.

It’s an ancient Sith artefact that allows a person to dominate and control other people’s minds. Aphra comments that it’s pretty similar to a lightsaber. As in, the one using a Thought Dowser doesn’t need to know about the Force to use it.

But she adds at the end that if a Force-sensitive being wielded it, then “the effect would be crushing.” Aphra’s statement means that If Vader were to use a Thought Dowser, he could get that edge needed to overpower Palpatine.

Star Wars fans already know that Darth Vader is one of the most powerful Force users in the galaxy. So a Thought Bowser would have improved his already robust control over the theForcee.

Such a powerful weapon would have been Darth Vader’s equivalent to DC’s Darkseid with the Anti-Life Equation or Marvel’s Thanos with the Infinity Gauntlet. So the potential is enormous.

Why Didn’t Darth Vader Use A Thought Dowser?

Now, it’s improbable that Dowser would have been introduced to the movies. After all, there’s not a tonne of cartoon or comic-related content that can integrate perfectly into the films.

But there are some exceptions, like Boba Fett. He was a character who made it into live-action after first appearing in a cartoon. However, not many fans know that he first showed up in The Star Wars Holiday Special.

Even though that Special is known for its hilarious scenes and awful storytelling, but even then, Boba Fett shined as the very best thing that came from it.

However, it needs to be considered that incorporating artefacts or weapons from the comics into the movies is much more complicated. In the end, the Emperor’s demise did come at the hands of Vader in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.

So maybe in the future, a comic or book will be able to explain why Darth Vader didn’t use such a powerful artefact to get what he ultimately wanted.

However, it also needs to be considered that Palpatine isn’t dumb. It’s possible that he knew where to find a Thought Dowser in the galaxy before that of his apprentice.

As such, he probably intentionally kept Vader in the dark about it. But why do you think that Vader never used a Thought Dowser?
