Around the beginning of 2022, Marvel Studios is taking a few weeks’ vacation from releasing new content. However, the MCU will return in full force at the end of March. Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight just received its first full trailer in preparation for its forthcoming appearance. The upcoming show will likely be the first Disney+ program of the year for the franchise.
As Isaac’s Marc Spector works through his Dissociative Identity Disorder, the debut trailer previewed what could be the MCU’s creepiest undertaking yet. The MCU appears to be on the verge of delivering another fantastic adventure with this new hero. These include Ethan Hawke’s mysterious villain Arthur Harrow and one of the finest costumes revealed ever.
Fans will learn a lot about Moon Knight’s numerous personas and the journey he will have to walk. This is where he gets his supernatural powers and assumes new duties in this standalone series. Along with the trailer showing glimpses of this action, Marvel is expanding on those notions even more with Moon Knight’s first official synopsis.
The official synopsis for the upcoming Disney+ series Moon Knight, which premieres on March 30th, was released by Marvel Studios. The show’s first full trailer was released at the same time.
One of Marc Spector’s many personalities is the classic Steven Grant depicted in comic books, which Oscar Isaac’s hero begins as in the synopsis. A “deadly mystery” involving ancient Egyptian gods must be confronted as Steven and Marc come to realize that they are both inside the same man:
“The series follows Steven Grant, a mild-mannered gift-shop employee, who becomes plagued with blackouts and memories of another life. Steven discovers he has dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector. As Steven/Marc’s enemies converge upon them, they must navigate their complex identities while thrust into a deadly mystery among the powerful gods of Egypt.”
There’s also confirmation that May Calaway will join Isaac and Ethan Hawke in the cast, along with Mohamed Diab, Justin Benson, and Aaron Moorhead as the three directors:
“Moon Knight stars Oscar Isaac, Ethan Hawke and May Calamawy. Mohamed Diab and the team of Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead directed the episodes. Jeremy Slater is the head writer, and Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Mohamed Diab, Jeremy Slater and Oscar Isaac are the executive producers. Grant Curtis, Trevor Waterson and Rebecca Kirsch serve as co-executive producers.”
Dissociative Identity Disorder is one of Marc Spector’s most defining characteristics throughout his comic book runs. Moon Knight’s first-ever live-action project on Disney+ will bring that struggle to live with the revelation that he begins as Steven Grant. This was seen in the first trailer and in the official synopsis.
When Marc was a child, the Steven Grant personality appeared in Marc’s mind as a billionaire entrepreneur. This is sometimes linked to Marc’s transformation into a superhero. While working at a gift shop, he is shown to have “blackouts” and his mind is inundated with recollections from other lifetimes. This could be as Marc Spector or one of his other classic personalities, as shown in the trailer.
Marc’s superhero origin story will feature prominently in the first or second episode of the series. However, fans will be eagerly anticipating the moment when he returns to his true self. When Isaac’s mysterious hero encounters Egyptian gods and other supernatural forces, it should set him on a wild journey ahead.
Marc and Steven will work together against each other in Moon Knight. For this reason, there should be plenty of twists and turns in the story throughout the six episodes. With every new episode, new layers of intrigue and mystery are likely to emerge for Marc’s other personalities. This includes cab driver Jake Lockley.
Whatever the final details are, the MCU is about to embark on one of its most ambitious and terrifying projects to date. It will hopefully be one that revolves around this new and devastating member of the team.
