The third Guardians of the Galaxy film, directed by James Gunn, has been anticipated for a long time. So, what’s the problem with the film? Before reconciling with the Guardians, however, there was a snafu involving Gunn and Disney, followed by the production of The Suicide Squad and, finally, the creation of the Peacemaker television series. Despite all the distractions, Chukwudi Iwuji was brought in for the forthcoming Marvel movie by those involved in the production.

The actor portrayed Clemson Murn in the Suicide Squad spinoff Peacemaker, and James Gunn has stated that he is one of his favourite actors. As a result, he was automatically included in Vol. 3. An important role was secured for the actor. That he’ll be playing the main villain, known as The High Evolutionary. He will go down in MCU history as a major upgrade.

Now, it appears that James Gunn will be delivering over another fine actor from his latest DC work to join him on the Marvel side of things. An actor from The Suicide Squad is this time’s target. Actress Daniela Melchior, best known for her role as Ratcatcher-2 in The Suicide Squad, has been cast in Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Aside from the fact that she won’t be playing Moondragon, there are no other details about her role in the film. Gunn celebrated the news on Twitter, teasing the possibility of future collaborations with Melchior:

When Melchior heard about the news and Gunn’s message, she was ecstatic, saying she would “remember [Gunn’s] kind words.”

“I can’t wait to work with [Gunn] again and again and again,” said the Suicide Squad actress on Instagram.

“I guess it’s out! So blessed to have the opportunity to work again with the person that discovered me and completely changed my life a few years ago! It’s one of my favorite people and directors too (Seriously) and I can’t wait to work with him again and again and again!”

Daniela Melchior as a Marvel Comics Character?

There are a lot of crazy comic shenanigans that go along with the creation of Phya-Vell, one of Captain Mar-Vell’s offspring in the comics. Whatever the character’s appearance may be in the MCU, the fact that she is a synthetic creation stands out the most.

It’s possible that the link to Captain Mar-Vell will be severed, but the process by which she was created is eerily similar to that of Adam Warlock. In addition, if the High Evolutionary and his genetic splicing are the focus of the vast bulk of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, that would perfectly play off Phya-origin Vell’s story.

Melchior could also play Lylla, a character created by the High Evolutionary. Much like Rocket, this character is a created sentient otter. Throughout the comics, she and Rocket develop a romantic relationship.

Unfortunately, Melchior, like Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper, has never set foot on director James Gunn’s set, so that’s a bad option. Fans will have to sit tight and see who she plays.
