Spider-Man: No Way Home is breaking box office records left and right. The movie has already crossed $1 billion at the global box office, and this is the film that everyone is talking about on social media.
The movie pushed MCU into new territory altogether. No one could have predicted that Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios would first introduce the multiverse in a Spider-Man movie and bring back beloved old faces while doing so.
Villains from the previous Spider-Man movies came back once again to wreak havoc. Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock, and Jamie Foxx’s Electro brought chaos to MCU Spider-Man’s earth.
Having not one or two but 5 villains come back from the older films showed off just how rich Spider-Man’s rogues’ gallery is. From there, several villain characters are right for the big screen.
In the MCU, we have only seen Mysterio and Vulture. But there are more bad guys who would be great candidates for Peter’s next movie.
During No Way Home’s last act, Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange tries to hold back the multiverse from entering the MCU. In the sky, we can see the outlines of classic villains.
Till now, fans have been able to spot Black Cat, Kraven, the Hunter, Rhino, and Scorpion. Now, two more have been spotted.
Tik Tok user @kevinmoranrob alerted everyone to the fact that there was another silhouette in the final act of No Way Home. We can’t show the pictures here since they are part of the leaked footage, but the video clearly shows one of the villain’s outlines to be of Quentin Beck, aka Mysterio.
Given how the events of the movie began, it’s fitting that the villain made some sort of appearance. A second silhouette was also pointed out, and that is being thought to be of the Superior Spider-Man.
That Spider-Man is one whose body was taken over by Doc Ock’s consciousness, and the previous villain vowed to himself that he was going to be a better Spider-Man than Peter Parker.
But not everyone agrees with this. Many say that there’s another possible identity for the same outline. This is the obscure Spider-Man villain called Doppelganger.
This guy was a mindless and evil duplicate of Spider-Man, made by Magus, Adam Warlock’s twisted alter ego during the Infinity War comic event. The possibilities are truly endless.
These multiversal villains outlines in the sky have been fun little Easter eggs for fans. We all have loved discovering it. But what was ultimately the purpose of including them? Was it just for fun or to hint at something?
The latter is true. They might be likely villains that Holland’s Spider-Man will fight in future projects. Sony seems to have its eyes on a Kraven the Hunter movie with Aaron Taylor-Johnson attached.
Rumors have indicated that they might even be interested in a solo Rhino project. Also once rumored to be in development was the Black Cat project. But it has been a long time since then, and there have been no updates.
Now, she would be a great fit for Holland’s next adventure. Their relationship would really fit Peter’s isolated lifestyle, now that Peter doesn’t seem to have a relationship anymore with MJ.
As for villains, Scorpion is a great choice. Mac Gargan was introduced in Homecoming, and in this movie, we saw J. Jonah Jameson becoming more prominent. As such, the pieces are on the board all ready to be moved.
As for Mysterio, his entire trick is illusions. So hopefully, Marvel capitalizes on that so that Peter can face the man who made him give up everything in life.
The next Spider-Man movie is happening, but it won’t be released any time soon. But for now, you can check out Spider-Man: No Way Home, playing in theaters worldwide.
