Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania is just around the corner. The movie is set to release in just a few weeks and friends are hyped to dive into their beloved cinematic universe. The earlier two Ant-Man films, released in 2015 and 2018, introduced the audiences to Scott Lang, a thief-turned-superhero, his journey to becoming a hero, and his understanding of the complexities of the Quantum Realm. Kang being the prime antagonist of the movie, the movie trailers clearly indicate that this time maybe not all of our beloved heroes shall make it back. Here is our pick for the characters that won’t make it past this movie.

Hank Pym

Hank Pym

Death Probability: 90%

Before Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) was the Ant-Man. However, in one of his missions, he loses his wife (Janet) in the quantum realm and puts off the suit for good.  Soon enough, Hank was the one who choose Scott Lang as his successor to be the next Ant-Man. With time, he consoled his daughter Hope about the decisions that he had taken and she slowly grew affection for him as well.

At the end of the first movie – Ant-Man, Hank had accepted Scott as his daughter. However, in the sequel, he was able to rescue his wife from the quantum realm and bring her back into the real world. So, we can safely assume that the ‘character-arc‘ of Hank is almost complete, and he could very well say goodbye to the MCU for good. Additionally, it could so happen that in the deciding battle with Kang, he might sacrifice himself to save others in some way or he and his wife could decide to stay in the realm for good.

Janet Van Dyne

Janet Van Dyne

Death Probability: 85%

After decades of being apart, Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne (Micelle Pfeiffer) were finally together again before they were immediately blipped out of existence in Ant-Man and the Wasp. In this movie, Janet returns to the Quantum Realm with Hank beside her. Fans have been theorizing that during her long time in the Quantum Realm. Janet somehow was involved with Kang (maybe romantically!), maybe she even helped Kang in building his Chronopolis.

However, she quickly refrained from Kang after learning of his evil plans. She destroyed his time-traveling ship and ran away, maybe that is when she bumped into Hank Pym who was looking for her. In the trailer, we can see that If Janet is afraid of going back, it’s definitely because of Kang and an unwanted reunion is inevitable. It hence can lead to a brutal brawl between former Wasp and Kang and can lead to the death of Janet.

Kang

Death Probability: 50%

Now comes the big name, the big baddie – Kang (Jonathan Majors). Although, it is speculated that the Kang shown in the trailer is going to be the variant of him that will be the antagonist of the MCU moving forward. That is why many are speculating that he will escape the quantum realm by the end of this movie to enter into the main MCU. But, what if that is not the case? Kang has always been notoriously famous for having many variants of him across the multiverse, each one more threatening than the other.

So, it may happen that this Kang indeed perishes at the hands of our heroes, but some other (and even more frightening variant of him, maybe Immortus) takes his place in future movies. However, since we know very little about the origins and motivations of this Kang version, it is safe to say that he holds a fifty-fifty chance of making out alive.

Scott Lang

Death probability: 70%

With each Marvel movie since Avengers: Endgame, it is becoming evident that the OG heroes of ‘The Infinity Saga’ are slowly passing their mantle to younger heroes by either dying or retiring. Ant-Man is one of the most beloved characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and everyone loves Paul Rudd. However, Paul has been playing the character for eight years now and this shall be his sixth outing as Ant-Man in the MCU.

So, it could be high time when Paul bids his adieu to the character and he might do so by sacrificing himself and going as a hero as Tony Stark or Natasha Romanoff. This could easily enable Scott’s daughter Cassandra ‘Cassie’ Lang (Kathryn Newton) to carry on his mantle and join the new Young Avengers in their future adventures.

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is set to a worldwide release on February 17th, 2022 in theatres.
