When you work together for as long as some of these guys do you are bound to become friends. Some of these duos in the MCU developed trust, love and a life-long bond in the face of adversity.

1. Rocket Racoon and Groot

Right from the beginning of Guardians of the Galaxy vol1, their friendship stood out. Rocket understood Groot and could speak his language and Groot would do anything to help his racoon friend. Groot sacrificed himself to protect the guardians when falling from the Dark Aster. Rocket the otherwise uncaring, nonchalant guy shed genuine tears and grieved for his friend.

2. Captain America and Falcon

Despite Bucky being his best friend, Cap and the Falcon had something special. They first met during Winter Soldier and have had each other’s backs ever since. The resultant rivalry between Falcon and Bucky gave us some hilarious moments. He remained Team Cap right till the end when Cap handed over his shield to Falcon. He then succeeded Steve as Captain America.

3. Iron Man and War Machine 

These guys have been friends since MIT and Stark chose Rhodey to succeed him as War Machine in Iron Man 2. Ever since then, Rhodes has been Team Iron man and one of his most trusted allies. Their snarky attitudes and on-point sarcasm have also given us some priceless moments.

4. Doctor Strange and Wong

This duo complements each other very well. Wong helps keep Steve grounded and takes the role of the responsible one. Although they don’t agree on most things, they understand and trust each other. They have hilarious on-screen chemistry with the various one-liners and meme-worthy moments. What’s more, is that they share a favourite ice-cream flavor A Hunka-Hulka Burnin’ Fudge. Now that’s adorable.

5. Hawkeye and Black Widow

This pair had an unfortunate ending when they had to make the ultimate sacrifice for the Soul Stone on Vormir. Bruce gave Natasha a way out of the Red Room despite having orders to exterminate her. She too saved him when he was under Loki’s control. She helped him find a way to forgive himself. They have a special bond and are like family.

6. Gamora and Nebula 

What started out as a rivalry built on hatred and envy became a sweet life-long bond. Ever since childhood, they were forced to battle each other and this created a rift between them. This resulted in Nebula attempting to kill Gamora multiple times but as it turned out, all she wanted was a sister. Even while being enemies, they saved each other’s lives on multiple accounts.

7. Clint Barton and Kate Bishop

Ever since Hawkeye, this awkward mentor-mentee duo has won over hearts with their cute yet funny interactions. Barton, initially out to protect Kate and keep her away from danger eventually learned to trust her and have faith in her abilities. Kate on the other hand saw right through his nonchalant attitude and tore down his defenses.

8. Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes

This friendship is one of the oldest and has definitely endured the most. There is nothing that could possibly break these two, not mad scientist Zola or brainwashing or even one of them being an assassin. They brought out the best in each other and understood one another better than anyone else. He was ready to take on the world including Iron Man to save his friend during Civil War. Like Cap said, till the end of the line.

9. Tony Stark and Peter Parker

How could you not mention them on a duos list? The improvised scene in Infinity Wars where Tom Holland says the now iconic, “Mr. Stark I don’t feel so good” had quickly taken over the internet. Stark brought him into the Avengers, had faith in him when he himself didn’t and wanted to protect him at all costs. Their duo is lovable and funny and we love it.

10. Thor and Loki

If you ever want to see super chaotic siblings then these guy are it. Their playful enmity turned into brotherly love was a hilariously beautiful transformation. Loki went from trying to kill Thor to putting his life on the line for him. Thor too loved and supported his brother no matter what.

Now it’s time for a few special mentions. Yelena and Natasha’s sisterly bickering in Black widow was loved by fans. She-Hulk has finally explored Tony and Bruce’s friendship. Falcon and winter-soldier have also solidified their friendship. Cap and Natasha had each other’s backs even when on different teams in Civil War. Lastly, T’Challa and Shuri had the most lovable ribbing ever.
