The season 2 finale of The Mandalorian saw Boba Fett take over Jabba the Hutt’s throne in the post-credits scene. But a long time has passed since that unexpected scene. Now, the first episode of The Book of Boba Fett has finally premiered, and reactions are pouring in.

The show has been created by Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau, who we know as the minds behind The Mandalorian as well. This is their second live-action series, and it looks like the show will explore Boba’s place as Tatooine’s new crime lord.

The debut episode was directed by Robert Rodriguez, and it was titled “Strangers in a Strange Land.” The episode had flashbacks to Boba’s life as a Tusken Raider prisoner, but it also set up his new life where he accepted tributes from other powerful figures.

Many fans are actively speculating if the show will continue its predecessor’s tradition of adding cameos. In all honesty, it’s way too early to tell.

After all, the show has only begun. However, there is one small cameo that has already been done. One of the leaders Fett meets is actually a leader behind the cameras too.

Viewers will notice that in the scene where Fennec Shand and Boba are getting tributes, Jabba’s previous smelting droid 8D8 introduces Dokk Strassi, the leader of the Trandoshan family.

The Trandoshan carries a pelt that might have belonged to a Wookie. Boba then tells Fennec that he “used to work for him.” After that Boba says, “it’s an honor to be welcomed to Mos Espa by you, Dokk Strassi.”

The Trandoshan politely bows, but offers a thinly veiled threat with, “May you never leave Mos Espa.” What’s interesting is that the actor playing Dokk Strassi in all of his green-skinned glory is none other than Robert Rodriguez, the episode’s director.

Also, he is one of the executive producers of the show. Fans of The Mandalorian will know that Rodriguez directed The Mandalorian’s Season 2 episode titled “The Tragedy.”

This is when Mando met Boba Fett, and they cleared a unit of Stormtroopers, who were ready to take Grogu/Baby Yoda. So overall, Boba’s comment about working for Rodriguez’s character is true in more ways than one.

More Cameos To Come For The Book of Boba Fett?

We all know that The Mandalorian was overflowing with cameos. Along with a laundry list of characters who appeared, several Star Wars producers and directors also made small guest appearances in the acclaimed Disney+ show.

Jon Favreau starred as Mandalorian Paz Vizsla, Dave Filoni played X-Wing pilot Trapper Wolf, and Taika Waititi was IG-11. With Rodriguez, this trend is definitely continuing in The Book of Boba Fett.

This means that fans might get to see more of Filoni’s Trapper Wolf. Also, since Bryce Dallas Howard is coming back to direct an episode of Boba Fett, so maybe it will include her first-ever Star Wars cameo too?

For a long, Star Wars fans have speculated about possible character cameos in the Boba Fett show. And post the Luke Skywalker cameo, nothing is impossible.

It’s possible that Mando could show up, but there are also rumors that another character from The Mandalorian might show up too. Maybe Grogu himself will be there? Who knows.

But it’s early days for The Book of Boba Fett, and if Rodriguez’s cameo is any indication then more off-screen and on-screen cameos are sure to come.

You can check out new episodes of The Book of Boba Fett every Wednesday on Disney+.
