Warner Bros.’ upcoming solo movie, The Flash, has been generating buzz in the DC Universe. However, a new international trailer might have inadvertently spoiled a major twist about the film’s villain.
Impressive Supporting Cast And Mysterious Villains
The movie’s supporting cast, including Michael Keaton as Batman and Sasha Calle as Supergirl, has been well-publicized. However, the film’s villains have largely remained a mystery. Recent merchandising and promo images hinted at the inclusion of a Dark Flash, a darker and grittier version of the main hero played by Ezra Miller, along with Michael Shannon’s return as General Zod.
Villain Reveal In Japanese Trailer
A Reddit user noticed a small dark shard coming out of Barry Allen’s (Ezra Miller) right shoulder in a shot of him screaming at his doppelganger with longer hair in the Japanese trailer. This detail, which was edited out of the US trailer, suggests that this version of Barry might be the film’s main villain, the Dark Flash. The Dark Flash is a monstrosity with black shards and spikes poking out of its shoulders and nearly every other part of its body.
Warner Bros.’ Response
To date, Warner Bros. has not pulled the Japanese trailer, leaving many to speculate about the studio’s stance on spoilers. The use of multiple Flashes in the movie has been previously reported, but it remains unclear how far into the plot the villain reveal will happen, particularly with the Multiverse at play and General Zod threatening multiple universes.
Early Reviews And Public Release
Despite the possible spoiler, early reviews have praised The Flash as one of DC’s best movies in years. The film will be released in theaters on June 16, and fans are excited to see how this villain twist will play out and how it will impact the DC Universe. The hope is that Warner Bros. and its actors can avoid revealing any more pivotal information as the general public waits to see how the DCU evolves.
