Episode 6 of HBO’s “The Last of Us” packed a lot of punch. From Joel wanting to leave Ellie to him getting stabbed at the end, the episode was a rollercoaster ride from the start to finish. Fans of the videogames praised the show wholeheartedly again this week for a lot of things. But there was one heart wrenching scene between Ellie and Joel that every fan of the games loved.

In the episode there was a scene where Joel goes to Ellie to tell her that she was going to continue the journey with his brother Tommy instead of him. He sets up this arrangement because he can’t bear losing Ellie after he has already lost Sarah, his daughter. An explosive argument between the two happens where Ellie says that she isn’t Joel’s daughter, Sarah.

A tense atmosphere gets created between the two after this and Joel says that she doesn’t know anything about loss. Ellie says that she knows all about it since everyone she has ever cared for has left her, except for him.

The argument ends with Joel saying that Ellie isn’t his daughter and neither is he her father. Then he storms off the room. The best part about this emotionally charged scene was that it was line by line enactment from the game.

Fans of the videogames loved that the makers were respectful enough to not change an iconic scene that basically changed Joel and Ellie’s relationship dynamic to one of father and daughter.
