Many assumed that additional characters from The Incredible Hulk (2008), which was criticized and sometimes ignored, may have resurfaced since She-Hulk brought significant references to it. Particularly after it was revealed that he would be making a comeback in Captain America: New World Order, some speculated that Tim Blake Nelson’s Samuel Sterns, who was last seen starting his transformation into the supervillain known as The Leader, would be the series’ main or supporting antagonist.

The Original Pitch For She-Hulk

After everything was said and done, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law didn’t really leave much of a trail for what was to come in the future in the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. Hulk’s son, Skaar, was briefly introduced at the end of the episode, which will certainly have consequences in the future. One popular Hulk-related theory, however, was proven false for the fans. However, it appears that the idea was present in the show’s first pitch.

Although The Leader is not in She-Hulk, head writer Jessica Gao claims he was in her original proposal for the show.

She did include The Leader in her initial pitch. She has no idea why it was removed; all she remembers is that it was an option, a possibility. She believes it was removed naturally because they just came up with fresh ideas. However, there had been discussions about either bringing Stern back or creating a new version of The Leader or anything related to him. Gao doesn’t remember what truly happened because the show has changed so drastically since it first began three years ago.

The MCU is really going all out for their extended universe, bringing back characters that viewers haven’t seen in so many years. Tim Blake Nelson, who originally appeared in The Incredible Hulk in 2008 as Samuel Sterns, will be making a comeback in the MCU after all these years.

According to a statement from Marvel, Nelson will reprise his role as Sterns, or more precisely, his alter ego, The Leader, in the upcoming MCU movie, Captain America: New World Order, which is now under production, according to a statement from Marvel made at the D23 Expo.

After seeing the entire She-Hulk series, it’s safe to say that The Leader’s removal had no impact on Jen Walters or the plot. Gao’s remarks nevertheless support the widespread belief that Marvel Studios is preparing a large-scale Hulk-related storyline for the future.
