The season 2 finale of The Mandalorian left everyone exuberant at the return of Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker. But all was not well as Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin had to say goodbye to Grogu.
The split between the father-son duo caused a major shift in the show’s upcoming narrative. Now, fans are actively speculating about the next adventure of the bounty hunter.
There’s no official news regarding season 3’s plot. But a few tidbits and set photos have been leaked in the past couple of months. Also, there’s rampant speculation regarding the Darksaber plot and what might be done with it.
On top of this, it’s heavily rumored that Baby Yoda’s Jedi training will also feature the return of Wookies. Right now, thanks to Carl Weathers, we know that production is underway on the Star Wars series.
And as was expected, a leaked scene has also arrived. It’s also full of possible spoilers. So tread carefully from here on.
Making Star Wars shared brand new details about an exciting action sequence that will be filmed for season 3. The outlet said that The Mandalorian was looking for cosplayers and actors to fill about 75 different kinds of Mandalorian suits of armor.
The site said that the show was looking to cast local actors as the extras who would be playing featured Mandalorian characters. But for background moments they were looking to use cosplayers from the fandom of the show.
The site even said that the reported 75 Mandalorians would be doing different armor swapping to create multiple more iterations of the armors on screen.
Making Star Wars even shared that some of the armors have a “Boba Fett vibe” to it as well, as a result of the different colors. They also said that some pieces of the red armor from Maul’s Mandalorians in The Clone Wars seem to be used as well.
The site further revealed the reason why this scene was going to be included in season 3. It was because, at some point in the plot, several Mandalorians from all over the galaxy would be answering a call for help from Din Djarin.
Making Star Wars further revealed that Din’s legend is slowly growing all over the galaxy since there are rumors of a true Mandalore’s return being circulated. In the end, Din’s call was eventually answered by “more Mandalorians than you could have ever imagined.”
The site lastly speculated that this moment could be a “unifying moment” for the planet of Mandalore.
Now, fans should take this with a grain of salt. But this scenario does make narrative sense for season 3 of The Mandalorian. Especially considering how season 2 ended.
Right now, it’s reasonable to assume that Din Djarin, as well as, the rest of the characters will be showing up in Mandalore thanks to the Darksaber’s inclusion.
As such, it’s definitely possible that Din and Bo-Katan could eventually fight for the Darksaber. After all, they have to finally decide who will claim Mandalore. However, outside Imperial forces might intervene.
As such, the Empire’s invasion might be the reason why Din calls for help. This might lead to the epic arrival of all of his Mandalorian comrades all across the galaxy.
It’s possible that some of the reinforcements arriving are Kiska Reeves, Boba Fett, Axe Wolves, and even other favorites like Captain Rex from The Clone Wars. Also, if Clone Force 99 is alive during this time period, then they might join in the fight as well.
Another character who can return is The Armorer played by Emily Swallow in season 1 of the show. However, it’s important to point out that this isn’t the first time that The Mandalorian has involved fans for an important sequence of the series.
Back during season 1, The Mandalorian producer Dave Filoni and creator Jon Favreau confirmed that they had brought in the 501st Legion as Stormtroopers extras for the finale.
Star Wars die-hard fans will know that the 501st Legion is a huge volunteer organization consisting of Star Wars fans who are costume enthusiasts. So given this rumored scene featuring cosplayers and such, it seems very likely that Lucasfilm will try to hire them again for the next season.
If these rumors are proven true, then it will be fitting that the show is incorporating the Star Wars fandom by showcasing the fans as an important part of the series.
It’s possible that a scene like this can be part of the season 3 finale. After all, this mirrors what Luke Skywalker single-handedly did during “The Rescue.” Also, it shows the success of The Mandalorian while effectively pushing the plotline forward. However, it’s better to take this rumor with a pinch of salt right now.
The Mandalorian is rumored to be released sometime in 2022.
