Till now we have had two seasons of The Mandalorian where we got to journey along with Din Djarin and Grogu. We saw them moving through the galaxy and having new adventures. But right now, both of them are separated.

One is off to pretty much a boarding school with Luke Skywalker to master his Jedi powers, whereas the other one- Din Djarin is left alone. He is without a ship or a son. But he does have one thing right now and that’s a Darksaber.

Now, anything can happen in season 3. Everything has been kept under wraps and so we don’t have any rumors or plot leaks. However, one of the actors has said that the next season of the show will be similar to season 1.

But that’s not enough to go on. But, people in the fandom have come up with a theory that suggests the Din’s next enemy won’t be a previous ally, but actually a full-fledged Mandalorian. Here’s the theory in more detail:

Din Djarin Will Face Off Against Bo-Katan Kryze

Mando Bokatan and Ashoka

Redditor EquivalentExtra thinks that the next big villain of The Mandalorian won’t be an incarnation of the Empire’s dying breaths and neither will it be Moff Gideon.

The user instead thinks that the next villain of the show is going to be Bo-Katan Kryze, the heiress who is in line to be the ruler of Mandalore. We first met Bo-Katan when Din Djarin crossed paths with her in Chapter 11 of The Mandalorian.

There she recruited him to help her with a piracy mission on Trask, a sea moon. As a character, Bo-Katan always made her main motivation clear: she wants the Darksaber because she thinks that it is her birthright.

But the main thing is that she won’t stop before she gets it back. And right now the sword is with Din Djarin after he defeated Moff Gideon to get it in a battle. But Bo-Katan doesn’t see him as the rightful owner of the sword. This is because, even though he is a Mandalorian, he’s still a Child of the Watch.

Now, viewers know that it was a zealous cult that interpreted the Mandalorian way differently. Now, after the finale of season 2, Mando is alone and it looks like he has to begin from scratch again.

It’s also possible that he might have to run from the very people he loves. As such, he might need to change his appearance to blend in and disguise himself. After all, Din’s armor and helmet can be easily recognized.

So if he wants to travel without raising any suspicions, then he might have to leave behind his armor, which he previously vowed to wear forever. This might propel him to explore what it means to be a Mandalorian in more detail.

Why Does Bo-Katan Being The Next Villain Makes Sense?

If the show does decide to go this route, then it will certainly feel like a natural step. After all, till now Mando has taken off his helmet a total of 3 times. So the next step could very well be to take off his entire armor altogether. And what better time than when a fellow Mandalorian is tracking him down.

However, this doesn’t mean that Din Djarin is all done with Grogu. After all, if Bo-Katan does end up going after him, then Mando is going to need some help. So it’s possible that he might contact Luke Skywalker.

This way he would be able to see Grogu and meet him again after the child has undergone some much-needed training. Also, out of all the people, Luke Skywalker might be the one who could guide him regarding his Mandalorian dilemma.

Many might think that Bo-Katan isn’t a foreboding villain. But viewers who have watched The Clone Wars and Rebels, know that she is a force of nature. But for now, this is just a theory, it remains to be seen what season 3 brings. Right now, season 3 is slated for a Spring 2022 release.
