Baby Yoda, also known as Grogu, has come a long way since his introduction as a minor character in the first episode of The Mandalorian. He has since received training from Luke Skywalker and gained experience in battle alongside Din Djarin, played by Pedro Pascal. But what’s next for him? As per Jon Favreau, he is only going to get stronger in “The Mandalorian” season 3.

Jon Favreau Talks About Grogu’s Powers In The Mandalorian Season 3

At a fan event in Spain, Jon Favreau revealed that Grogu will become even stronger in “The Mandalorian” season 3. As per the boss:

“Grogu has developed a lot, and now time has even passed since The Book of Boba Fett and since he’s rained with Luke. As you can see, his Force powers have gotten greater.”

This isn’t the first time the showrunner has talked about Grogu’s powers. Previously, in an interview with Empire Magazine, Favreau said that even though the Force imbues the user with natural abilities, it’s difficult to unlock it all without proper training. As per Favreau:

“The Force gives you some natural abilities as far as what your potential is, but without mentorship and training, you can’t unlock all of those things. It’s not just a metaphor for a magical ability that has been visited upon you; it speaks to potential. It’s how you can apply yourself — who you study with, what you do, how hard you work — that can lead to different outcome.”

Not only has Grogu been training with Luke to unlock all that he has learned, but now that Mando has the darksaber. So it’s possible that he will be training Grogu next. As such, it will be interesting to see in which direction Grogu’s Force powers develop. After all, in the season 3 trailer we already him using them.

Director Talks About Baby Yoda’s Powers In The Third Season

In an Empire Online interview, Rick Famuyiwa, who has directed episodes of The Mandalorian, teased about Grogu growing as a character in the upcoming season. He said:

“There will be things [in Season 3] that once again have people talking about Grogu. In incremental ways, he’s growing as a character and in this partnership with Mando. As this relationship grows, Grogu has to become more central in things that are going on. He’s now firmly at the hip of Mando in every adventure… But he’s still just a baby!”

We have seen Grogu levitate a mudhorn, use forcechoke, and even heal. So what more can he do in season 3? Maybe he will go to the dark side? After all, that will certainly make the dynamic between Mando and Grogu more interesting. Apart from this, there have been theories that he is the Force incarnate. But it remains to be seen what theories come true.

Fans are now eagerly anticipating Season 3, which will feature a new adventure for the duo. Despite the recent spinoff series, “The Book of Boba Fett,” focusing on Grogu’s time away from Din Djarin, the pair reunited by the end of the show. In the upcoming season, Mando and Grogu will team up to face the challenges on the Mandalorian homeworld of Mandalore.

“The Mandalorian” Season 3 debuts onWednesday, March 1.
