Marvel Studios continues building its brand with A-listers coming in for Phase 4. But along with the well-known faces, the MCU team is also bringing in new faces in its movies.
This can be seen with actors like Iman Vellani in Ms. Marvel and Simu Liu in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Kevin Feige said that this is the formula and process they will be continuing while casting for Fantastic Four and other MCU movies in the future.
Now, Marvel Studios isn’t following this formula just for its actors. They are doing the same behind the camera as well. One of the names that have been at the forefront of this movement has been Nia DaCosta. She is currently working with Marvel Studios for 2022’s The Marvels.
The movie is a sequel of Captain Marvel and features Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan, Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau, and of course Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel.
Kevin Feige has shown support for her work and audiences can finally see why, now that Candyman, her first noteworthy directing effort has finally been released. But apart from being a talented director, DaCosta is a Marvel nerd as well.
In a recent interview, she revealed that she showed off her familiarity with Marvel’s history in her initial talks with the MCU team.
Nia DaCosta Showed Off How Big Of A Marvel Fangirl She Is

The Marvels director Nia DaCosta sat down with The Guardian and chatted about her first pitch to Marvel Studios. This included villains and heroes from the Fantastic Four and X-Men lore. In her initial meetings with Mary Livanos, a Marvel producer, DaCosta said that she totally nerded out about Marvel.
The director revealed that she pitched for a “Galactus, Storm, and Scott Summers team-up movie.” Now, ultimately that team-up movie hasn’t come to pass, but in her talks with the producer, DaCosta felt like she got a lot of confidence. This is even though it seemed to the director that Livanos just endured her comic-book rant.
Here’s her full quote:
“I just nerded out. I was like, here are the movies I think you should do! Galactus, Storm, and Scott Summers team-up movie! Blah blah blah! She just endured me going in super-deep. And she also gave me a lot of confidence that I would have the creative latitude to not just basically be a puppet on a string.”
With this pitch, Nia DaCosta made it clear that she loved comic books and knew about them. As such, bringing her aboard the Marvel ship was the right decision since it helped channel the ship in the right direction.
When Will Fans See The X-Men And Fantastic Four Characters In The MCU?

After this pitch, fans will certainly be looking forward to seeing X-Men characters like Scott Summers/Cyclops and Storm in future projects like The Mutants. Also, along with this, there’s plenty of fan excitement to see Galactus.
Viewers of Fox’s Fantastic Four must have seen Galactus before. But viewers will surely want to see the villain as more than just a cloud in the sky. Now, DaCosta might not be involved in these projects, but her knowledge of the comic material does make her a worthy candidate for directing these projects.

Right now, fans are waiting to see what DaCosta can do with 3 of Marvel Studios’ major female heroes alongside power-packed talent like Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury. As of now, have no idea regarding the plot or even the time period of the movie.
As such, there’s plenty of mystery surrounding the film, and expectations are especially high after the success of Candyman. So we can’t wait to see the finished product.
